Hello, my name is UB and I only update my journal once every few months.
I’m sitting here reading Less Than Zero and wondering how much more interesting my life would have been if I would have grown up on the West Coast instead of the East. I'm on a strange Bret Easton Ellis kick right now which means I'll probably read any book that he authored that I can get my hands on even if it sucks horribly. I don't think this spree is going to be as enjoyable as my Augusten Burroughs kick (which I'll complete whenever I get around to reading Dry) but I can still find myself relating to some of the things brought up in this book despite the fact it was set in the early 80s. Next up I'll be reading Tom Robbins. I even have Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates on my IPod thanks to Audible.com. One of my professors told me that my work reminded me of him. This should be interesting.
Oh - I finally got around to watching Shaun of the Dead and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgendy. The second one, although it had its moments - I wouldn't necessarily be able to force myself through again. Now, Shaun ... was frickin' awesome. I laughed (of course), I cried (honestly - I got a little misty), I imitated their accents (and I swear there was a Scotsman in there) - it was cleverly done. The best part about it was that there were just these little moments in there that totally grabbed me. I mean, during the whole process of actions being forced by decisions being brought about by actions I really got into the story and quit analyzing the hell of out it. I dug it. [Hee! I said dug!]
