last night, BSP and I saw an advertisment for the movie Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts and had the following conversation:
BSP: Oh, Julia Roberts! What's that movie about?
Kit: *doesn't look up from book she's reading* "White lady has exotic adventures followed by superficial life change."
BSP: *snorts* Oh, one of those "magical negro" things?
Kit: Seems likely.
*pause, turns page*
You still want to go though, right?
BSP: *in a wheedling voice* Can we? It's Julia Roberts....
Kit: Sure. Although, as the closest white person to me, afterwards I may have to bite you.
BSP: Seems fair.
Kit. When does it come out?
BSP: Oh, Julia Roberts! What's that movie about?
