Toad in Tokyo

Jul 22, 2009 03:44

It was a rainy summer night in Tokyo.

We were outside a restaurant in Roppongi Itchome, within a complex of multi-storeyed buildings and escalators running up the completely built-up hillside.  In a planting of a single tree surrounded by juniper, was the resident toad. It's often out here when it rains, the restaurant staff told us. Presumably the lights attract enough insects to feed it. It seemed a thin patch to me, but I guess it was adequate for Mr Toad.

Now the question is, what kind of toad is he?
