[Chitose watches, silently--she's good at that. She has never been able to see like this: a vision, clear and bright. She wonders if this is how normal people see.
It's the first thing she's ever seen like this.
The sounds are familiar, though, and the scents. They're more familiar to her than she thinks they should be. After some time, she speaks.]
He thinks he's seen her before. Maybe. In a dream. But the days have been blurring together and Kakashi hasn't been sleeping because he has been working too hard. Buried in too much mud. Underground most of the time he's been awake.
He's not sure she's in Konoha. He doesn't think she is, but if that's the case, who is taking care of her? She looks too young to be on her own, and she's probably a civilian. ]
No.
[ He says after a moment. Because Kakashi doesn't lie or make things sound prettier when reality isn't. ]

[ His eye widens with surprise.
Pain and Konan are watching her? This --
This isn't exactly what he expected to hear. He knows Pain has been through a long, hard life, and he remember his dream, remembers that he, too, was a war child. But Pain is also a ruthless killer, and is waging war against Konoha. What the hell is he doing collecting children to take care of?

Mm....
[ This is definitely a problem. Kakashi doesn't want to know that there are children on the Akatsuki side of the fence. Because they are about to go into battle, and children are always the ones to die first. Or in the most brutal ways. ]
Do you know where you are right now, Chitose-chan?

If you take root...
[An uncertain pause.]
Do they grow again?

It's scary.
[Her voice is dull for a child's, and too quiet. It's always been that quiet, but it's never been that dull.]

[ He says softly. He doesn't tell her it's not real, because it is. Was. ]
Did you just arrive here? What's your name?

[Her eyes aren't quite meeting his through the Hitomi, but her posture is wary, even though they're such a distance away.]

[And she's grateful for that; she'd be all alone otherwise. Although, she supposes, she's already alone. Her family, her village--is gone.]

He switches to a private channel. ]
Have they been treating you well?
[ This complicates things. ]
