good things never last
had a decent job that lasted 2 days. the company is going to be shut down for a 2 week summer-break. i might be able to rejoin them after they open; before i leave for college
worked for 14 3/4 hours on thursday and 8 more on friday. earned (before taxes) between $250 & $271 (depending on how overtime works - by the day or week). pretty good for 2 days. at the warehouse job, over the 3 days i worked there, i worked for more hours and only made $192 before taxes - $175 after (damn taxes). so i figure after taxes, ill get 225-250 from this one. not a bad job. i sit down inside a truck for the half the day. and the work isnt hard or painful or unbearable at all. the only downside is that some of the trucks dont have working A/C.
yeah so too bad thats not lasting. im waiting for somethin clerical to pop up in the mean time. maybe ill do some work for a friend in the FD. shes offering to pay me $10 to do some housework (gardening and such) which will take up a few hours and is off the books.
this weekend / upcoming week is quite busy.
starting at 245 this morning when we got called to DPA & Vanderbilt for an MVA w/ a working car fire. fully involved car - magnesium in the car (steering column?) even caught fire and so when we arrived there was this tall bright yellowy-orange flame. the other 2 companies (both arrived before us) were having all sorts of problems but company 1 was able to take care of it =).
today i have to go to the optometrist, get gas (oooh big deal), get a haircut, and then Commack FD is celebrating their 100th anniversary tonight - long 2 mile parade w/ 40 fire departments. i'm probably holding the flag again so its gonna suck cuz after we march, the flagsmen have to stand in 2 lines as the other departments march thru em. ugh. then after the parade theyre doing a grucci fireworks display and my company will be standing by in case of any fires that break out due to it. dunno if ill be able to do that if im holdin the flag tho. maybe someone else can hold the flag. HOPEFULLY another probie will show up in proper dress.
tomorrow if the weather holds is the last of the graduation parties. monday night we have a big fire training. tuesday was supposed to be the day for the make-up FD softball game but its being postponed till friday a different day now? i think one of our guys said friday. if so, i wont be there; neither will several guys from DH b/c one of the firefighters in the department is throwing his annual bbq/party that is amazingly fun. maybe i can stay for one of the games if they need me
which reminds me....does anyone here who is reading this have a full drivers license? i'm gonna need someone friday-saturday night @ around...oh idk...between 2 & 5 am. heh.
yeah and then saturday i have 2 more parties - simultaneous but theyre only a few blocks away (actually same block) from each other so hopefully i can make both
got to go now. anyone who can DD for me friday night/saturday morning, plz let me know. you can come to the party if youd like
