Updates!

Hello everyone!

It's been quite a while since I've updated this. I usually update my friends-only personal lj, divabat, so add me there for a look on what I've been doing after the program (answer: lots.)

My WorldSmart trip has ended, but my involvement in Up With People is still going on for a while, so here's quick recap on what I've been up to.

1. As mentioned earlier, I've been elected as Crew Representative for our semester. Basically my task is to be the middle person between our crew, the UWP office, and the UWP Alumni Association, and keep in touch with everyone. First thing we (Gaby and I) did was make a website, We So Solid - it's kind of underused though, because everyone's using the YahooGroup instead. Oh well, we'll work on it.

2. I am kind of undecided about being a Era Rep - it's like being a Crew Rep, except you're in charge of a five-year span of alumni, and you're also extra responsible for reunions. (And you're in the Board of Governors.) On the one hand, the UWPIAA really needs some sort of WorldSmart representation, as well as representation outside the US and Europe. And the person in charge seems to really want me there. On the other hand, I'm not sure how active I could possibly be given that I'm so far away from everyone. I could try, but we'll see.

3. I am going to the PreStaging! It's a show to present the new Up With People Global Education Program, which is actually modelled more after our WorldSmart program but with a bit more emphasis on the music. Other people in my crew performing are Melissa, Nina, and DeeAnn; Gaby will be there as well, and the office people from the worldwide UWP offices are coming. There's one Japanese person, one from Togo, a few from Mexico and random parts of Europe and Canada, but predominantly American.

4. I've also just applied for a position as Road Staff - specifically, the Community Relations Coordinator. It's a mix of External Relations, Sales & Merchandising, Community Relations, and some other mishmash of things. Tom's applied for the same job too so that would be interesting! I am supposed to have an interview, but I haven't heard anything about that (Bob, who's hiring, did tell me that he's got a ton of applications to process and that he'll keep me up to date) - and I just checked the website and saw that they're not accepting any more resumes at this time. Ack!

I really hope I get the job; I really enjoyed my time in the program and would love to give back. I've got the experience, and I score points on diversity (especially since they're apparently having an even more diverse student base than my crew) and enthusiasm. Here's hoping for the best!

5. Two of my friends have been accepted to the July 2006 semester - Zeljka from Croatia (who has been accepted a long time ago...) and Victor, my college best friend who's since moved to Australia. Both of them could really get some monetary help, so if you have any suggestions, please share!

So yeah, that's that for me. Once I get to the PreStaging - or at least once something interesting happens within the next week or so - I'll update this LJ more.

If you're still reading this, do let me know! Thank you.
