All kinds of hurt, but in the good angst-filled sort of way ;) Liked how you carried the hair metaphor throughout - trying to keep her life orderly, straight, in control, grounded while the madness swirls around her - very nicely done. Particularly liked the fight scene re Jeremy, very in-character as these two do not back down when in an argument with each other. Them going on the run is a nice call back to 3X10 and 3X19. And then in the end, they simply can't stay away from each other. Great work, as always.

I'm glad you liked the fight scene, because I so needed those two to argue! Fighting with someone doesn't mean you'll lose them, and I just needed to write myself some Elena who knows it, who isn't afraid to yell if she needs to.

Oh, this is just so so gorgeous and so heartbreaking, I love the whole thing of Elena brushing her hair to get the bad stuff out and then coming back to it later with her hand going to her head to tell her secrets and thinking she can't have anything ripped out of her is there are no secrets there, *hugs Elena*. And I love her taking this one time to be with Damon and categorising it as selfish and not wanting the cure but still wanting the sire bond gone and Damon not pointing out the contradiction, so brilliant.

It may or may not fascinate me that Elena probably straightens her hair every day to keep herself distinct from Katherine, to mark the difference for herself in a physical way.
