It's just so hard for you to let them be happy, even when they should be happy, huh? Not that I don't like this angst, I totally do...it's gut wrenching as always.

Thanks for reminding, I just caught up with that story :).

The way I see it, it's kind of cathartic? Something they need to do to get all the ugly stuff out of their system, so that they can be happy again, without bad memories or regrets holding them back. In my head, they spent the rest of the night after this cuddling and touching and, you know, being themselves. Possibly having way more joyful sex.

Though, I do love the idea that Elena can only fully express herself, in whatever way, with Damon. He's the only one she's ever been entirely herself with. *weeps*

Yes, Ginny's story was so brilliant! \o/ Obviously I need to enable people more often ;).

Though, I do love the idea that Elena can only fully express herself, in whatever way, with Damon. He's the only one she's ever been entirely herself with.

And it works both ways, because Damon also wears masks all the time. But with Elena, he allows himself to be honest.

This was perfect and exactly what I wanted to read about this. Anger will be later, real sex in a way will be later, right now is just about reaffirming and she needs to re-do all these things that were questioned earlier because now they are real REAL.

It's all I want now. Because she's be ashamed and angry, and so scared for Bonnie and having her mind reduced to this vessel for Shane. But then she'd be so angry at everyone else (Stefan, Damon, Caroline, etc) for not believing her. Because not only did she have her agency taken away, the little parts where she was able to say NO THIS IS ME AND WHAT I WANT, no one believed her.

And it would all be different kinds of anger! With Stefan, it would be irrational, epic fury, because once she lets herself be really mad at him, she'll be mad for EVERYTHING he's ever done to her. With Caroline, it would be shouts at tears. With Damon, it would be more like cutting, painful sadness, hurt. She understands why he did what he did, she might even respect him for that, but it HURT, and he should know.
