I have no other way of explaining this.

I hate this show. You can't just leaving us hanging like bait in the water, show. You just cannot be so awfully inconsistent about a sire bond that could be fundamentally changing a main character's decisions without explaining it in full. You just don't do that; this is the worst kind of drama.

Well, if it turns out it is a fake-out, it will be a nice comment on many things. But even so, the handling is kinda sloppy.

Here's another inconsistency for you:

Tyler saying sire bond doesn't affect how you feel just how you act.

Then Nandi, the witch in New Orleans, explaining that a sire bond happens because of the heightened emotions a vampire feels towards his/her sire. So clearly vampire sire bonds are about EMOTIONs, according to Nandi. Not just obeying commands.

I've seen some people fanwank that Elena's sire bond didn't really lock down until the end of 4.06. And I've also seen the explanation that hybrid sire bonds are different from vampire sire bonds (which fits with 4.08 when Stefan asks about the vampire equivalent of a sire bodn and Caroline says there isn't one after talking to Tyler).

Tyler's line is also self-contradictory (if you take into account what he said in s3). In short: NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE. Unless the sire bond is another Sun and the Moon curse.

I really hope it is, at this point.

In my book, right now this show is guilty until proven innocent. If this is a fake-out, then it's the worst I've yet seen; I mean it's OBVIOUSLY very inconsistent, so if they're doing it to increase the ~drama then gtfo show.

Oh, no disagreement here. Real or fake, it's clunky.

If all they're trying to say is that it's not fake; it's real etc., I don't see why they can't do it without villianizing Stefan/Caroline. I mean if it's true, and it turns out to be a fake-out, then they'll just have made these two misogynistic in the extreme and unable to accept Elena's desire. Which I think is a huge disservice. I don't want to care about these characters when the show obviously doesn't. D: (Also slutshaming Caroline while trying to make a point about feminine desire? SERIOUSLY, SHOW?)

Yeah, the execution is shabby, and at this point, neither of the narratives looks very good to me. But hey, degrees of evil and all. I still think that the "no sire bond" scenario is less gross.

I'm so ~over the sire-bond already. This show is about ladies loving each other.

Period.
