I have returned. I had to go pick my roomie up at the airport, and I was thinking about this as I was driving, and it hit me! What you do, that is so lovely, is give us these snapshots of them together, and when I see these they don't feel quite right, but they don't feel quite wrong either, so I'm always mixed up as to how they work for me. I don't love them, but I don't hate them either, and it suddenly occurred to me why: it's not that I can't see Elena being this way, but I haven't gone on the journey with her to get to this place. Does that make sense? I want the before stuff. So, there you go. WRITE ALL THE FIC. :D

This is interesting. I think you just proved to me that I want what I can't have. Because I can see Elena going to this dark place, and this is a beautiful example of that. It's excellent writing and I sympathize with Damon very much. I see this as much more likely than a happy ending.

I want my Damon/Elena fluff now.

But we all know Damon will take Elena any way he can get her, and he might just love her more broken like him. Excellent job.
