It's All About Brothers

This is a spontanous Salvatore meta. It combines the thoughts I had while re-watching season one, all sorts of random TVD observations and my flailing all over 3x08. Since I just HAVE TO do this, and I have very little time (unexpected family problems that will consume most of my free time at least till Tuesday), unfortunately I can't fiddle with ( Read more... )

Re. Katherine. Oh, I know! I've tried and failed on NUMEROUS occasions to put that incredible woman into words. It's is not possible. She transcends consonants and vowels, I'm telling you!

Re. Lexi. I guess I really just don't understand her. Like, why the hell did she decide to be Stefan's saviour and completely throw Damon to the curb? I mean, we never really got any reason for why she chose one over the other. Especially right back at the start. Damon was just as new to the business of being a vampire as Stefan was, AND he had the added drama of living with a dude that was off the rails. And she was basically all, I'll take it from here. You can make your own way.

Then I hated that she tried to attack Liz Forbes. I know 99% of fandom LOATHE that Damon killed her, but as the Damon/Liz friendship is one of my favourites, and the alternative to Damon killing her was Lexi killing Liz, I am all for what he did. There were MANY motives for Damon's actions that night. He got the heat off him and his brother, he saved Caroline's mother (a fact that Elena seems to have COMPLETELY glossed over, btw). All Lexi had to do was turn and run. I know it's vampiric instinct to attack, and so she did what she did. But, then, so did Damon. And I'm glad he did.

Then, that whole rapid-detox with Stefan in season three made ZERO sense to me. I don't care how brutal this show gets, it can't really shock me in that regard (and it didn't here), so when I say it made zero sense, I don't mean the brutality was senseless, just... the whole idea of what she was doing made no sense. And then the writers kinda backed that theory up the very next episode by having Damon break him out and feed him bar wench blood all night... Just, why? I don't get it. I mean, I get it in the context of the points you've made above, and I agree with all of them pretty much. But, there is A LOT that has to be inferred to come up with your theories. The show haven't really given us all that much to work with, tbh.

Also, (I really needed dot points! Haha!), I HATE, HATE, HATE the cheesey way she was introduced. LOATHE IT WITH THE POWER OF A THOUSAND SUNS. It was tacky and cheap and SUCH A STEREOTYPE COP OUT. Hated it. And her from that point, pretty much. Writers, you were LAZY. SO. FREAKING. LAZY.

Anyway, yeah. I never warmed to her character and am not sad she's gone. Also, I think the chick playing her has a weird face and freaky eyes. There is also that! /shallow.
