hmm... more "dismissive" than belittling is what I meant. That those who ship a certain "type" (the Good Girl/Bad Vampire cliche) are always going to ship that way and there's no need for discussion of how that makes no sense at all. For the most part, shippers in both fandoms seem dismissive of "the other side" and the division / presumed difference in shipping habits.
Could we risk saying that Damon, like Drusilla, makes himself a vampire "soulmate"? I mean, he does it unintentionally, but that's what it boils down to.
I think this ..... I need to think on this. I don't know how much of this is true. Are we speaking of the sire bond? In which case, idk - Drusilla actively sought out William to turn him - he saw the world the same way that she did and she went after his humanity with a single-minded recklessness. Damon's interactions with Elena were more subtle.... just as selfish, but he "trained" her to know him the way I think we all train each other to know ourselves when presented with a new person in our lives - only the opposite. Rather than displaying all of his good qualities, Damon expressed his negative qualities to begin their relationship. Drusilla told William what she wanted while Damon showed Elena what to "expect" of him.
Ugh I have to dash to work and I don't know how I feel about this, but it is a lovely parallel. I wish we knew more about Katherine's motivations to turn Damon/Stefan - because I can see a stronger parallel between Dru/Katherine and Stefan/Damon/Spike than with Delena, honestly.
Mostly because of the "active" vs. "passive" actions of Katherine and Drusilla vs. Damon.
