(no subject)
today was good!!!!!
today was a day of damage control.
i went to Spanish and took a test i wasn't terribly prepared for, and after class i went and talked to my professor about my absences and trying harder. she's kinda scary, but nice, and the test wasn't THAT hard *knock on wood*
then later came kitsch. omg, i love my professor. not only was the class super fun and awesome and i had to keep myself from raising my hand too much, but afterwards i went back to her office to explain my absence and upon my honesty of saying "i freaked out about my thesis proposal and didn't take care of myself and didn't sleep" -- she asked what my topic was.
she's interested.
we talked about beatnik things for about an hour. she's recommending various films for me. she's going to find her old syllabus from when she studied beat in college.
when i explained that part of my turmoil was that i wanted to explain things clearly because i knew they'd want me to refocus, and now they wanted me to focus on the muses -- the look on her face....she thinks the focus of beat muses is boring, she agrees they may be overdone.
she thinks i have a great start and idea for my thesis. she says i can come talk to her about it anytime.
she asked who my adviser was and i explained that it would be assigned to me in November.......wouldn't it be cool if she was my thesis adviser?
did i mention she's familiar with kerouac's film "pull my daisy" and IMMEDIATELY recognized my argument about the place of women within the film? well she is.
i'm happy. things are back on track, i'm actually mostly caught up with my homework, and i'm going out with steve in an hour and a half.
