All right, so I just wanted to let everyone out there know how much I am thoroughly disgusted with some things in our country, the first of which would be the DMV. I hate the DMV. I hate the DMV so much it's not even funny. When I go into the DMV, within thirty seconds of being in line I want to vomit and pullt out all of my hair strand by strand. I would rather have a small Chinese man insert bamboo shoots into my hands between my nails than have to go to the DMV. It is, BY FAR, the most bureaucratic and inefficient sector of the government. ARGH. That said, I got my license renewed while here in Bakersfield over break. The only reason I didn't send it in through the mail was because I wanted a new picture on my license. Never again. Once I get a good picture on my license I am never, EVER renewing in person until that picture literally no longer resembles me.

Another thing that I find terrible, horrible, and head-ache inducing are the airlines. I would like to just start by saying that it is NOT (I repeat NOT) my fault that the tickets that I needed were lost. What must have happened (and really it's the only logical thing) is that the clerk that checked me into the flight leaving Columbus in December pulled out all of my tickets and not just the ones for my departure. I realized this about two days ago, when I was packing to go back to Ohio, and I pulled out my tickets and realized that they weren't there. MY TICKETS WERE GONE. After searching my bags for a while, I realized that there were four missing stubs, not just two (like there should have been). After spending 45 minutes on the phone with the airlines, they told me to drive to the airport and pick up the "Affadvit of Lost Tickets." So I did, and I filled it out, and then I went back and returned it. They then told me that since i purchased the airfares through American Airlines that I could not return the tickets to the Delta Counter in Bakersfield even though i was flying Delta (which is not what I was told on the phone)> I would have to drive to the LAX Americal Airlines counter and return it there. Well, I was in my car literally ready to drive to LAX and get my new tickets when I decided to call, just to make sure of the whole transaction. THREE HOURS LATER I discovered that if I did go down there and return the tickets it would cost me $100 to get the tickets reprinted. $100! It's two fucking pieces of paper, and it's $100! So not only would I have to pay for my gas getting to and from LAX, and waste my whole day driving back and forth from that god-awful place, I would have to pay$100 for a ticket that I've already had and that is actually scheduled on the wrong day, so I get into Columbus a day earlier than I should and I either have to pay for a taxi ($130), a limo ($99), or a hotel room for the night ($120) to stay there and catch the shuttle the next day or get to school.

I ended up just buying myself a whole different ticket that leaves on Sunday morning. Yay. It was only $223. Yeah. That clerk at the Delta Counter in Columbus owes me fucking $223. Asswipe. Sometimes I really hate my life/luck/the powers that be.

On the bright side, I'm in Sunny California one whole extra day. And it's over. Yay.

Peace.
