-Underaged smoking/drinking: i don't want to be a hypocrit and say "cigarettes and alcohol hard are bad and i hate them" because then i'd be lying. well i don't whole heartedly agree with underaged drinking but i won't persecute those who do. i mean my best friend is a 16-year-old smoker who parties a lot and i still love her. i'm not really sure what to think of it, i try to look at it as experimentation or wht not but sometimes i think it's stupid. for example when a girl or boy who's underage starts to smoke because he or she wants to seem "badass" or "cool" by someone they're trying to impress, that's just dumb and those kids should be reprimanded, however, i'm not sure about those who pick up the habit due to availability or depression. i think all in all it's a hard issue for me since i don't drink or smoke cigarettes just because i choose not to do so.
-Stem Cell research: i think that the developement of pluripotent stem cells(give rise to any type of cell in the body except those needed to develop a fetus) would be good but i do not support the production of totipotent or multipotent stem cells(in which a fetus can be created) should be allowed. i believe this because i don't think that scientists should interfere with nature's process of life, sure they can help cure diseases or help diseases such as diabetes but i'm more partial to the sperm/egg fusion creating life, maybe it's just my religion kicking in or just the fact that i worry that the children produced from stem cell research will always be observed by science and won't be able to live a real life.
-Teenagers having children: if the girl or girl and boy are able to raise the child in a healthy environment and are able to provide it with all of the necessities than yes i do agree with teen parenting, however, i don't like the girls who go on the maury show and say "i want a baby so i can dress it like a thug and yea, you don't know me." because they think kids are like dolls. first of all if you want to be a parent there are a lot of responsibilities and if you can't even take care of yourself you shouldn't have a baby. one of my friends is due in two months and she's keeping the baby, i respect her a lot for that. i suppose it's hard to be a teen mother but if you can handle it, i don't see anything wrong with it. and they need to remember, they're the parents now so they shouldn't make their mommy or daddy help with the baby.
-Anorexia/Bulimia: anorexia nervosa and bulimia are diseases. i'm sure all of you knew that so i don't know why i said that but anyway...i wish there was a way to help men and women with either disease be cured and not relapse. i've heard that just like alcoholism you'll always be anorexic or bulimic even after treatment because of your brain processes, i find that terribly sad and it makes me wonder if there will ever be a way to help people being hurt by this ever growing problem. i'm positive it's all psychological and i doubt it's really caused by the media like so many say. i've known people who've become anorexic for a guy they may have liked or for a sport they were trying out for, so i blame society not the media. (i think i made no sense)
-Is punk dead? Why or why not?: no punk is not dead because a lot of young people and older people are still diehard fans of GOD punk, even though this crap pop-punk is trying to take over it will never succeed and punk will stay alive forever.
-Your local scene: my local scene is a bunch of yuppy kids putting on bandanas and tight pants swinging their fists to horrible local screamo music that lacks any real substance aside from hot band members. that is my local scene.
