During the last month or so I've become utterly, totally obsessed with
PaperBackSwap. I posted about it on
MissMalaprop.com a couple of weeks ago, but I know not everyone on my friends list reads that, and I know that I have a lot of book lovers on my f-list and this is something that I think all bookworm types should be a part of.
You trade books. If someone requests one of your books that you've posted to the system, you pay to ship it and when they receive the book, you get a credit. Then when you find a book you want to get, you just use that credit and
get a book in return for free.
It's made me start reading more regularly. I've always loved reading, but I do so many different things that it often falls to the bottom of my priorities list. But now that I can get all of these books for next to nothing (to ship most books is just over $2, so really, that's like $2 I'm spending on every book I receive), I've been feverishly consuming books. Originally the plan was to try to get rid of books and clear some space but I keep finding stuff I want to read, and I'm basically just swapping books out for different ones. Oh well.
You should join! And add me as a friend! There are currently over 1,300,000 books in the system at any given time and that number just keeps growing, so there's a lot to choose from.
