Isn't bureaucracy awesome?
I'm a second-year student, and a professor has invited me to audit her fourth-year seminar. ("Can you see me after class?" [Oh fuck oh fuck what did I do?!??!] "Hey, you want to audit my fourth-year seminar?")
However, because we're past the add deadline, this means I'll have to submit three petitions:
- A petition to increase my credit limit (even though it's only an audit, I still need more room, or something, I don't know)
- A petition to audit the class
- A petition to add the class after the deadline
In that sequence. Each petition will take 4-6 weeks to clear, so it will likely be after Christmas before I know whether or not I'll be allowed to audit this class, even with the professor wanting me there.
Oh, and also, the longer it takes these petitions to clear, the harder it will be to persuade them to let me add the class late, even though I'm only auditing and will not be submitting any work or retaining a grade.
Aargh.
