I do so love it when I'm called "intolerant" for calling out the laziness and cowardice of rank-and-file members of organizations with horrid leadership.
Yes, that means you Catholics and Mormons and Baptists and Republicans who sit back and calmly watch your groups' leaders enact hateful and murderous dogma on innocents, and then claim you're not responsible just because you've said a few times that you disagree with them.
Mere disagreement is not enough. If you are not part of an active effort to change those groups, then you are part of those groups' problems, and you share in the responsibility when those groups' actions cause harm.
Of course, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Part of the brainwashing rituals for many of these groups is that you don't question leadership, ever. A Catholic who actively challenges the pope risks excommunication and worse, so they learn to meekly sit back and say nothing when violence is done in their name.
And yet... such pressure and threats are precisely why said Catholics need to rise up en masse and issue those challenges. Because if your faith is demanded and coerced, and not freely chosen, is it really your faith anyway?
If you won't act to save the other victims of your leadership's hatred, then at least act to save your own identity from the tarnishing it's taking from these bastards. You can't whine and cry about being lumped in with "them" if you're doing nothing to remove them from the public face of your group. If you care so much for this group that you're unwilling to leave it, then why don't you care enough to save it from the machinations of the power-mad and hateful?
oh those funny kristians
