Santa Claus is alive and well at New Jersey 101.5 FM Radio

New Orleans, LA -In spite of the destruction and displaced families in this hurricane season's wake, Christmas is going to come. That means many families with children have one more headache in to add to the list of no money, no job, very temporary housing, etc. Most of the evacuee parents were facing a dismal Christmas as far as Santa's Visit.

Stepping up to the plate is New Jersey radio personality and Santa Claus Pro-Tem Big Joe Henry (left) and his assistant "Ray the prize guy" (right). Together with a team from New Jersey 101.5 Radio they held a tour of New Jersey shopping malls collecting toys and books for Katrina's youngest victims.

Big Joe Henry originally told news papers they were hoping for somewhere around 20 to 25 thousand toys and books. They did a little better then that.

The combined efforts of the staff at New Jersey 101.5 delivered over 80 thousand toys to children in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Destrahan and Lulling, LA and in Gulfport, MS. Big Joe Henry was there, dressed as Santa bringing a smile to those small faces. That smile is even better because they haven't had much to smile about lately.

Heroes come from all walks of life. This morning there are a few more heroes in the world thanks to the people at New Jersey 101.5 FM. My most heart felt gratitude and respect go out to their entire crew. Well done ladies and gentlemen.

The lights are back on Bourbon Street! More from New Orleans later.

Come on Mrs. Whack, let's go see what we can do to help.
