The banner pretty much sums it up.
Kennedy Space Center, FL - There is lots to say, but I have a chance to sleep for a few hours. May they fly safely in the morning and come safely at the end of their mission.
Patches of fog greeted the sunrise this morning. Hope it doesn't do that tomorrow, that is scrub conditions if the runway at the space center is obscured as it was today.
Shooting through the fog. Cool shots too!
Sunrise shooting and lens envy!
The buzzards were thick around the press compound this morning. I wonder if they know something we don't.
This bird supervised the press during the RSS rollback photo op. Don't tell anyone, but it could be bribed with crackers.
This is what it looks like with the Rotating Service Structure (RSS) closed around the shuttle.
The RSS is mostly rolled back now. The process takes about 25 minutes. One NASA official said, "We do everything very slowly and deliberately around here. Except for that little spam of time right after the countdown reaches zero."
The structure surrounding the vehicle even after the RSS is rolled back never fails to impress me.
One last beauty shot.
"Having the opportunity to fly the first flight of something like a space shuttle was the ultimate test flight."
