Basically, my to-do list for the next week (a.k.a. I may be busy forever)
1) Papers. I has them. They include:
- Thesis o' doom! (Well, okay, not really): But I do have a fair amount of work on this that I have to do, including the current section on theoretical analysis of Hong Kong voting patterns and comparison with similar states. A.K.A. time for graphs and what I think! So it shouldn't be toooo hard. But that's what I always say. Time frame: This weekend
- Policy memo: a shortish 2-page paper that should contain a lot of dense information. It is hard to believe I will do poorly on this, because I did this last semester and the professor loves me, not to mention I've done pretty well in the class and know what she expects. Time frame: by end of today DONE
- Final American Politics paper: This is five pages of bullshit because the class is not worth what a pig could spit, but I do need to get it done. Time frame: By Monday (may precede thesis, but should be the work of two-three hours at the very most)
- Final Bureaucratic Politics paper: Another one where I feel hard-pressed to do poorly. I believe I know almost exactly what he's looking for, and I'm pretty familiar with the material (it's about Otto von Bismarck's management of power! yaaay). The only possible issue is the length (10-12 pages) but I have until mid-May to do it. Time frame: End of next week
2) Loan stuff - basically, gotta double check what Sallie Mae needs from me and from UW so that I can get their dollars and thereby pay tuition and thereby have a fun summer wooooooooooo
3) Grad stuff, including:
- Reservation for fam @ some restaurant or another
- Get regalia
- Make sure I will graduate by trying to opt out of S/U grading for problem class
- Clean apartment
4) Schedule GREs and buckle down to STUDY for it. Gotta get it done while it's all still fresh. Gads I hope I remember my maths. Also, I think I have become dumber since I have entered college, sooooooo ick. Time frame: End of May
5) Consider whether I truly want to apply for Monbusho, and if so, get a proposal together. This is a tricky one, since I think it's a long shot generally and I'm not sure how to organize the project I have in my head. But on the other hand, if I don't try for it, I'm pretty much letting myself down and additionally it means I've put grad school off for a year... for what? Time frame: End of May
So all of this stuff is more or less doable... I pretty much just need to focus. I don't think I'll have a looot of time to myself for the next week or so. Or rather, I will have a lot of time to myself, in that I need to shut myself up in a room and just get it all done. Strangely enough, I think my brain is at the point where it cannot handle the magnitude of change coming into mah life (and everyone else's) and rather than freaking out about it, I'm actually approaching it .. rationally. Weird.
Zen thought of the day: SWINE FLU IS COMING FOR US ALL
P.S. I need quizzes! What happened to the good ol' days of LJ memes? :P
