Someone was shuffling cards, the deck fanning out between giant, white-gloved hands that floated in the air. The cards moved from hand to hand, too fast to be seen, and the hands tapped the deck, flipping over a card- the ace of diamonds.
"Is this your card?" The voice was jovial, deep, and she giggled, nodding.
"Yes, yes! That's it!" She reached out to grab it with a similarly white-gloved hand, but when she touched it, it vanished in a puff of smoke as the voice laughed, warmly.
She was lying on her back now in a thick green bush shaped like a flat circle, and when she sat up, there were cards standing all about her, with faces on them, holding spears. She sat up, in a blue dress now, and they all muttered to each other- nonsensical things about refrigerators and sardines, and she she made a noise, they pointed their spears at her.
"To the queen!"
They marched through the garden, and she blew bubbles as they walked. Everything was so bright, so colorful, all bright greens and yellows and purples and blues, and she looked at the guards, waving her hands as she marched. There were giant beetles that fell in alongside them, and she waved to them, the beetles waving back with four arms as they walked on two legs.
There was a castle, blue and yellow and gold and with towers that reached high into the sky. There was a man there, with long black hair, dressed in a brown suit with a yellow cape and hat, and he had two bunnies standing next to him, writing down things in little notepads. "What is this? The princess is not fit to see the queen like this!" He shook his head, tut-tuting and waved the cards away. "To the royal dressing chambers!" And they hopped on a magic carpet, zipping up the stairs and into a room. There was a red carpet, but the rest of the room was white, including a giant white wardrobe that bounced and swung open when she approached. She picked out a bright pink dress, the dress floating down and covering over her, and the man clapped his hands, pleased.
The rabbits bound closer and nodded, and in a blink she was in the throne room- a bright white room with large windows, columns, and a red carpet that led up to a throne. There was a woman there, the most beautiful woman in the world, and she was dressed in a sky blue dress that sparkled like diamonds. Her soft brown hair was pulled back from her face and tied with a red scarf, and a crown was on her head, adorned with diamond-shaped sapphires that matched her blue eyes. The woman smiled, and it was like she was suddenly falling up a tunnel- the ground spinning around her and pulling her away from the throne room as air rushed by with a whoosh.
But she knew one thing, as she spun up towards the light, falling up faster with every second. A name, and important one. Somehow, the beautiful woman reminded her, and she knew the name was just as beautiful as the woman on the throne.
"Thalassa."
