As usual this time of year, I'm trying to find a summer job. As of right now, I've narrowed it down to four options (of which I have no clue which one to do).
1)Work as a fast food guy at Disneyworld (pays $6.90 and hour, I'm guaranteed 30 hours a week, and I get to go anywhere in Disneyworld for free when I'm not working).
This job sounds like a bunch of fun, but I'm not really sure if I'll be able to do it all summer for two reasons. One, working as a fast food guy will probably get old after awhile (especially with everyone complaining about prices) and two, the Florida sun will turn me into a rice krispy person in about 3 hours unless I bring a few cases of sunscreen (and even then, who knows). The pay is pretty good though, and it's Disneyworld!
2)Work at Camp Grizzly as the Handicraft Director or Outpost director (pays $150-200 a week for 6-8 weeks).
Although the pay isn't the greatest in the world (I'd need to find another 3 grand somewhere to go to school next fall), there's something about Camp Grizzly I just can't stay away from. I talked to Ivan today and one of those two jobs is pretty much mine if I want it (as is the Disneyworld one), but I'm not 100% sure I want to dive back into it yet (even though I do love Camp Grizzly do death). Although if I do that I'll also get to go on ambulance calls during the off season and coach a baseball team with Walter, which will be awesome as well.
3)Work as the medic at another Boy Scout Camp (pays about $175-250 a week for ? weeks).
Medics at Boy Scout camps are in much greater demand than supply throughout the U.S., but since it wouldn't pay too much more than Grizzly and I'd have to find a way to get there, I'm not sure this is an option for me (although working as a medic all summer would be fun).
4)Spend the summer wildland firefighting (pays somewhere between $8,000 and $12,000 for the summer depending on how much work I do).
At this point I've basically narrowed it down to Grizzly or Disneyworld, but the money aspect of this one won't really get out of my mind. I could definetely use it for school next year (and if I'm smart the one after that), but I'm not really sure I want to spend my summer working that hard and going from place to place in the middle of nowhere U.S.A. Personally, I find the thought of working with kids much more attractive (but once again, look at the $$$!)
As far as everything else goes things are going alright. My spring break was very laid back (which was awesome) and I spent Friday and Saturday at an EMS Conference in Spokane (which had its moments). Anyway, I'm signing off before this post gets longer than a Harry Potter Book (don't you love how on the rare occations I actually update I always write a novel?) :)
(oh, and input on what I should spend the summer doing is more than welcome!)
