Room #219 and beyond, Friday afternoon.

Mar 17, 2006 13:57

Cordelia sits on the edge of her bed, biting her nails. It's not a habit that she's ever really had before, and it disgusts her. She stands up and paces. She returns to her bed and flops onto it.

Angel getting sick hit her harder than she could have ever imagined. She misses LA, she misses her Angel there, and she hates to admit it, but she misses Wesley. And Doyle, but there was nothing to be done about that.

And because Cordy's never had the best coping mechanisms, she's shut herself up in her room since Angel's recovery. She couldn't even bring herself to go see him. And let's not even get started on Midsummer Night's Dream. She had avoided rehearsals and meetings with Rory and Dream for the past week. The play was tonight, and she'd just been completely avoiding the subject.

She sighs and reaches for the phone and starts to dial. Part way through the number, she hangs up. Deep breath, dial again.

"Wesley?"

"Cordelia! Where the hell are you? We were so worried."

"I'm sorry. I - I had to leave. With Doyle and everything that was happening, I just - I was overwhelmed."

"That stupid sorcerer came after us, saying we owed him money because he sent you into the future and you didn't pay for that," Wesley says.

"Oh my god," Cordy says, facepalming. "I didn't WANT to go to the future. I hope you didn't pay."

"We certainly did not."

"Good."

Silence for a few moments, but it's not awkward at all.

"I want to come home."

"Cordelia?"

"Not permanently, I don't think. This place - it sounds conceited, but I think I'm needed here in Fandom. But I need to see you and that Angel."

"This Angel?"

"There's an Angel here, too. From a different dimension. Before he moved to LA."

"I see. Well, come home then."

Cordelia paused, biting her lip. "I don't have any money."

"I'm wiring it over as we speak."

"Thank you, Wes. I'll see you soon."

"Soon, Cordelia."

After she hangs up, Cordelia turns towards her computer to send a few emails.

TO: Professor Dream, Rory Gilmore
FROM: Cordelia Chase
SUBJECT: Apology

Um, hi. I won't be here for the play. Maybe you'd already counted on me not being there, I don't know. I'm sorry, but I have to leave town for awhile.

Break a leg, and really, I am sorry.
Cordy

TO: Angel
FROM: Cordelia Chase
SUBJECT: Leaving town.

Angel,

I don't know if you even know how to check your email. I just wanted to apologize for not coming to see you since you've been out of the clinic, and to let you know that I'm leaving town for awhile. I'm going back to LA.

Take care, and I will be back.
Love,
Cordy

Cordelia closes her laptop and quickly packs a few things. She touches the fabric of the sweater that Lee had given her, and found herself holding back tears. She slips the sweater over her shoulders and folds it close around her.

She is almost out the door when she thinks to write a note for her roommate.

I've gone back to LA for a few weeks. You can borrow any of my stuff you like while I'm gone.

Have fun,
Cordy

With that, Cordy closes the door behind her and heads out of the school and down into the town to make her way to the mainland so she could book her flight back home.

Whew. So. I'm hoping to be back in a couple of weeks. Maybe three. *sniffle* I love you all so much, I am just on the verge of mental breakdown here and need to save my sanity. Hopefully everything will calm down and I'll be bored in a week.

Thank you all for your understanding.
