hi friends,

this weekend was really delightful. honestly, my return to new york in general has been good times and drunk times and funny times and chill times and mostly happy times.

it would be hard to recall all the things i have done so i will work on doing this weekend and add in other things as well. what can i say, its been a productive two weeks.

last evening i made my first ever trip to long island. *insert audible gasp from e. fawthrop here* john invited me out to meet his friends at a party which didnt end up happening. instead we watched tv and snuggled on his couch. and i met the brothers mcshane! and his parents. they are all a delight in a really nice way. they joke and they kid one another and all three of those boys are punk ass little bitches but you can tell they all really like each other. this is novel to me since there is definitely dislike running around my family unit. but the best part is that they are in no way super sickly sweet or cutesy about liking each other. it was fun.

i came back this morning and roamed around brooklyn with lexie. i have been hanging out with ms. lexie smyth quite a bit. she lives in greenpoint brooklynwhich is awesome. when you go to her apt. you pass polemart and other polish stores which is super fun. even the mta vending machines have a polski language option which is very considerate of the city, i think. things i have done in brooklyn include: project runway party, sangria party, rooftop stargazing party, found and carried a rocking chair back to manahttan, thrifted like a champ, saw some music at mccarren park pool (today!), and generally ran amok.

i got off the l at first ave and walked back instead of transferring at 6th ave.
hot chip soundtracked the walk and it was really perfect.
contentedness was in the air.

i have been biking a super lot, especially since we are in (or were in) a heat wave. usually i roam around the village, east and west, but i got a map of the greenway and am looking forward to trying sections of it out. if you don't know the greenway is a bike path that completely encircles manhattan and i think this is very very cool. i also got my gears fixed at recycle a bicycle because they werebeing funny from having ben out of use. the bike shop guy that i secretly crush on complimented me on my necklace and for having been abroad and then talked to me about how in ny one of the largest political pacs are the garage owners. apparently whenever the city tries to do something pro bike they think of it as anti car and block the shit out of it. aaarrgh, why don't people wise up to the biking revolution?

i have lots to look forwward to as well. i got a job working at the princeton review doing data entry. this will most likely be boring but it will also be money and it will be in an airconditioned building.

and i will have visitors soon. my mom is coming this weekend and that should be awesome. we were tooooo crazy when we moved me in so i cant wait to see what a whole weeknd will be like with nothing to do but goof off. manica also threatens to visit regularly and means it. and that would be exciting beyond belief. lexie and i work daily on getting the r. lear out of vicky's hell and down to nyc. and ben malbin is supposed to be stopping by on his way to accra, ghana. have i mentioned i will miss you desperately next semester ben? if not, i will. lets have a very fun last hurrah when you come to visit.

in other news my apartment is pretty much the shit. i dont believe pictures do it justice but for the sake of those i promised here are .

my rocking chair! i painted it green/kmarted the cushion (classy, i know.)

my closet. i took the door off for added space, hung necklaces and vintage hats on the walls for decor/order, and shoved alot of clothing into a small square. and then bought more clothing to celebrate.

my nook. ive actually turned the chair around since i took this picture and moved the lamp but you get the idea.

this is my bed and my awesome quilt. my mother's mother made it out of scraps of fabric from her house like the couch, an old dress, etc. when my mom said i could use it i almost cried. sleeping with history like this makes me feel safe and wonderful.

and thats my room. come visit and i'll let you snuggle up next to me, okay?

and that is just about that.
basically, life is very very good.
