LJ absence, Interstate 5, Love, and Travel...

So, I'm back from the lj silence... anybody miss me?
I certainly missed you guys commenting on my random ramblings.
I've been having a wonderful spring break.

here's the mini update: got out the friday of dead week, flew to san deigo, got picked up at the airport...
elizabeth & I hung around her house for a week, sat on the beach, drove around aimlessly, ate mexican food, went to mexico and ate mexican food, as well as buying sketchy pills off of sketchy "pharmacists" in tijuana, theres a story for you... staying at her house was nice, a long breath of inward air... her mom is nice, her brother seems nice, but he's hermity and stayed inside... i also met Chris, with whom I am sure to have some interesting music conversations, a new friend! we drove up through los angeles, allong the 101 along the coast, into san francisco - i gasp, what a city! what a view! I dont think i'll forget that 10 minutes in which that panorama came into view. San fran is now up there with seattle on my "places to live" list... we ate at the house of Nanking in china town, so delicious, so insanely busy, ohhh.... tinkered around in import shops buying each other silly gifts... wandered aroudn for 30 minutes looking for a restroom and ended up peeing in the marriot lobby bathrooms, no problem, just act like you have a room and walk in, they wont know the difference... apparently my dad did this in manhatten and as he left the bellboy even called him a cab... hehe... stayed with my grandparents in santa rosa...

then up the next day, checked out UC-Hayward, the school liz applied to, she wants to study art administration; gallery running and whatnot. A small campus, but perched on a hill across the bay from san fran and overlooking the whole bay... gorgeous... the next day we drove up to black butte ranch, where my parents were staying, finally back in oregon; when we stopped in klamath falls for gas & food & to pee liz jumps out to run into the station to pee and the attendant is all like, Um, maam can I start your pump? and liz is all confused.... what? she thought the attendant was just being frinedly, walkin over to say Hi and whatnot. Californians, I guess. Survey: does anyone know the reason for attendants in oregon? w e're one of the only states...

From san fran cisco to bbr in one day, 667 miles, arrived at 11:30pm to find mom lounging on the couch half awake watching letterman and little bro playing game boy, i love my family! The next day we woke up at 6 am because liz has been sick and was coughing like crazy, and i went to get a glass of water, and... holy sh it! it's snowed 6 inches betweeen 2 and 6 am! What the hell! it's still snowing! Big fat fluffly flakes! Ok, so it got up to about 9.5 inches, we walked in the snow, made angels (dragonfly) and had snowball fights, floated icebergs in the stream, made two snowmen, it was a joy to see my family, to spend a little time with them, they are special people. I wish there were 1000 hours in teh day to spend in black butte with those guys, it's a slice of real peace and heavenly rest.

Well the plan was to go on to portland and show off the hometown, take the girl who can spend 3 hours in smith family bookstore and is overwhelmed by the size & selection to powell's for the real deal, to go to St. honeres bakery and p.s.u. and pioneer courthouse square and all of those portlandy places. Vegan ice cream at scooters, etc... but it was too late, we left Sandiego too late, it is a 3.5 horu drive from bbr to portland, only 1.5 to eugene, and we wanted a day off from driving or two, so we arrived here in eugene on wendsday night... spent the time together, had fun... i got her two books on tape for the road, war & peace *abridged and dorothy parker short stories... she just left jsut now and I cried a lot, but i stopped around the time of describing gasoline purchases in klamath, it's going to be ok and it is ok... everyone think good thoughts with respect to travel and drinving today & tommorow, i want good energy in the air for my elizabeth, she's got 944 miles to go 'til home.

So, that said, it feels good to rejoin the lj people... we are the people fo the future! i love you kids...
everyone that i havent seen for a few weeks, i look forward to hanging out give me a call!!

Love thomas
