Don't look too much into the future, guys. You might just forget where you are.
2006 began:
With lots of hugs, and nice things. Hugs meant a lot to me this year.
I learned to cook:
but most of the time, just payed for my food...
Mostly at Tito's Tacos (with Ella). Sometimes I spilled on myself...
And sometimes, I liked Megan MORE than Ella, so I'd take her instead!
Megan and I liked eating together SO MUCH that we created a very very bad habit of eating together almost every other morning - DURING 2nd period piano class (We hated our teacher, Mrs. Oliver).
Ditching might not have been the smartest way to feed our friendship...but whatever. We had fun.
When we weren't ditching, I would simply hide from Mrs. Oliver in the back of the classroom (on the floor) with my boyfriend...-ish... guy... thing.
Elsewhere, synchro was taking over my life...
Yeah, we were the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Only, we were in the water. (ONLY in the water, too.)
That was when synchro was lots of fun. We made (REALLY COOL) conga lines...
and usually came home sunburned, but happy nevertheless (maybe because we were so toned)
We also had some groovy synchro shorts, see? Just to prove that we actually cared about such a dorky sport.
Sometimes we did more serious shows, like at the La Costa resort in San Diego, where we swam for awesome famous people. And we came home at around 2 in the morning and took pictures of ourselves with our freak makeup on.
The makeup wasn't as bad as some of the suits we had to wear...
yeah. hideous.
Later on, Ella quit the team and left me to fend for myself with the rest of them. Which ended up OK, because we travelled A LOT and quickly became a huge sisterly family.
We went to Washington:
Where CeCe and I got our groove on.
We went to San Francisco...
and roomed without adults for the first time:
But when we were with the adults, we made tribal dance circles!
We went to Florida...and landrilled our asses off --
but rejected the curfew and took pictures with May's hot mom (or milf).
Outside of synchro, Ella and I still spent pretty much every second together...
she would sometimes be at my house when I came home from practice. Julia and Ella surprised me one day:
I think we watched Titanic.
But usually it was just Ella and me.
Sometimes I hung out with Alice, too.
We learned a little about beauty products together.
Then I got my braces off. wahoo!
Didn't change much.
I made some new old friends, and partied down in Mrs. Laramay's class
...and outside Mrs. Laramay's class...
I wish I remembered that picture.
Somewhere in there I realized that I could do synchro very well if I wanted to do the things I love...
I chose weed. My bro and I smoked TOGETHER for the first time (smoking together, that is). Family love.
But I will always look back on my synchro days with pride. I accomplished a lot because of it, like muscle, work ethic, and flexibility:
(but that's about it.)
I took some nighttime bikerides...to Tito's, duh.
Becca and I performed in a really gay dance show...To Prince.
I'd say we worked up a black sweat.
Over summer I went to the Gulf of Mexico
And took a road trip up to Berkeley with Becca
Then school came around, and I took all this:
and chopped it off.
Most people saw it for the first time at my birthday dinner...
Then at the real birthday celebration afterwards-
I went to visit Taylor after my birthday, because we missed each other after both quitting synchro.
she taught me to multi-task.
My year has ended pretty well. I made more new old friends.
and celebrated Christmas with Jews...
Overall, it's been a wild year. Ella and I got along better than we have in the last 9 years, Alana and I hung out more in one month than all throughout the last two school years, we both improved as surfers (and simultaneously as sex symbols...you know what I'm talking about.) Megan made me a lot of quesadillas, Natalie made me a lot of chocolate chip pancakes, and Becca tried Indian food.
Shit...my life still revolves around food.
I guess some things just never change.
BUT LOOK OUT, 2007. I already have some great things in store:
Surf Camp over summer
Italy over spring break (no parents!)
College road trip over summer
And a better GPA than last year.
and TOGETHER AS ONE tonight!!!
Adios, 2006...tonight will be a night to remember.
