(Posted in my dA journal yesterday.. meant to post it here, too, but forgot until now. Oops? ^.^;;)
My beautiful creamcicle molly with the unbelievable fins gave birth two nights ago (Saturday). :3 I've been waiting for this for.. uh.. yeah, nearly a month, now. And I'm glad I got there in time/realized what was happening, because her babies were in the process of being eaten by both the two adult guppies, and the three corydora catfish in the tank with her. D: So I really quick assembled the little breeder net I'd bought for just this purpose, and scooped her and her remaining babies into it. She dropped a few more inside (which I'm glad of @.@) and I left her in for the night, just in case.
Yesterday morning (Sunday), she went back in the tank with the older guppy/molly babies and the two males, but I think tomorrow or Wednesday I'm gonna move the three of them and the three corys into the big community tank, leaving the little tank for the babies to grow up in. (Can't transfer today because they're currently being medicated for some fun bacterial infection the molly brought with her from the pet store. x.x Today's their last day, so I think tomorrow will work okay.) I dunno, maybe I'll leave the corys in there, too, to help clean up the gravel. ^.^;
Meanwhile, speaking of the community tank, Elvis, my big (read: GIANT) silver molly keeps trying to court/mate with Lilu's silver-dollar-shaped high skirt tetras. While he absolutely ignores the three perfectly willing female mollies. *FACEPALM* They're trying so hard to school, and were doing a pretty good job of it this morning, but then... He keeps separating them so he can flare his fins and try to impress them. I honestly don't know what his issue is. D: Is it because they're his color? Is it because they're so fat-looking and thus would make lots of babies? I don't even. >.<
Elvis: Oh bebeh, you're so beautiful. *chase tetras*
Tetras: Why you do this to me?! D: *FLEE*
Marilyn and other female mollies: UM HELLO? *swim in front of Elvis, try to get his attention*
Elvis: Wait, come back! *interrupted by mollies* Oh, hi girls. Sorreh, can't talk. Mebbeh later. Uh-huh, uh-huh. *catch sight of tetras* Oh bebeh~ *chase tetras*
Female mollies: :C
Uny: WhatisthisIdonteven. D:
And then, the one male Platy is secretly a hermit and doesn't know why we've stuck him in this tank with so many other feesh. His harem of females doesn't even know he exists, I'm sure. Though one of them came from the pet store pregnant. She looks like she's about to burst. XD She's not gonna go just yet. She's not acting aggressive/reclusive enough. Which is a good thing, since my net breeder is still in use. ^.^;
Anyway. I guess that's enough rambling about my bebies. *sheepish*
*skip off to check on new baby mollies and administer medication to the bacterially challenged feesh*
feesh!!!
