Canon Background:
Eagle is from the Magic Knight Rayearth anime cannon. Though at the alternate universe of Squarewarts most of this history is no longer true, I have included it here because it speaks about his character and nature.
In canon, Eagle is the Commander of a space warship called the NSX. It is his goal to invade the land of Cephiro and capture their Pillar System, a system of governing in which the will of one person supports the peace and happiness of the entire planet.
Eagle is prepared to sacrifice him self in order to achieve this objective and he continues his invasion even though it means betraying his best friend. Eagle believes that the Pillar System maybe able to save his country of Autozam from the destruction caused by that planets over industrialization. The skies of Autozam have become so polluted that the vast areas of the world have had to be placed under biodomes. Eagle loves his planet and wants to save it… but Eagle has a wish that is even more important to him. He is dying of an incurable illness. It is Eagle’s wish to die in battle as a warrior, doing something important for his country, instead of just waiting for the end. Eagle has always faced his future head on, he wants to face his death the same way.
With his strong will power Eagle is able to fight off the effect of the disease that should have killed him before he could reach Cephiro and even manage to enter the Pillar room to see if he would be worthy to become the next Pillar. But, a young Magic Knight named Hikaru enters the room at the same time and both candidates are judged worthy, with enough strength of will to support an entire planet. Either Hikaru or Eagle would become the next Pillar.
The outcome of this was decided in battle. As Eagle joined the fight to protect Cephiro and the Magic Knights he had befriended from a great evil. During the battle Eagle’s illness begins to catch up to him and he was no longer able to pilot his mecha as expertly as he used to. He still manages to save the life of the friend he had betrayed but he dies in battle, in a powerful explosion.
Personality:
Eagle is charming and polite, with an almost uncanny ability to make people like him. He tends to put people at ease with his easy calm demeanor. Often times individuals will confide things in him because he seems like such a trustworthy and steadfast friend, genuinely sympathetic to their pain.
But, behind the friendly smile he has a calculating nature. Eagle is very perceptive and he is often able to size up people and situations just by observation. Eagle is something of a natural strategist. He can look at a situation and instantly know what the best course of action would be to achieve the results he is trying for. He is clever and very curious about the world around him.
The son of a politician, Eagle has a natural ability to led. He aspires to achieve great things and will work towards his goals with unfailing focus. He has a will that goes beyond stubborn. When there is something he wants he fights for it with everything he has, sometimes even to the detriment of his own health and welfare. While Eagle has the best of intensions, anyone getting between him and his ambition runs the risk of an intense battle. Eagle is not violent or malicious by nature, but he will do anything to get what he wants. Even if Eagle later feels shame or regret for the action he has taken, he will continue on towards his goal, with sheer single-minded focus.
Eagle has a habit of hiding things that really bother him from others and he will smile when he really feels more like crying. Part of this comes from his desire to not have people worry about him and part of it is because he would rather not have to explain his secrets. He is a private person, only sharing his deepest feelings when he really has to. He can be emotionally selfish and may end up hurting the people he really cares about… not because he wants to, but just by keeping them at a distance.
Publicly Eagle is used to the scrutiny that comes from being a President’s son and he tries to maintain a certain standard that is expected for public figures. Though he is always respectful he often times will drop formal titles, preferring to use first names instead.
Eagle is a young man full of athletic abilities… he can run very fast and can jump very high. He is strong and fairly adept at swordplay. He enjoys games that require his athletic abilities and cunning.

AU Squarewarts Background:
The Vision family is from one of the older family lines of magic and perhaps partly due to this bloodline Eagle’s father has managed to attain power as President in the country of Autozam. And as a result of his fine leadership skills, President Vision has managed to hold this position for as long as Eagle can remember. As his Father’s only son, Eagle has always been expected to set a good example for others and maintain an almost courtly sense of decorum due to his Father’s prestigious position… something he does not always manage to do. While always polite, Eagle has at times skipped out on social occasions he was expected to attend or otherwise defied his Father. He does always keep his Father’s wishes in mind, but he prefers to make his own decisions on what he will do. He doesn’t really have an adversarial relationship with his Father, they do love each other a great deal, however this does not prevent momentary skirmishes and battles of will.
As soon as Eagle’s magical abilities were mature enough, he was sent away to a magical academy, Hogwarts, in order to better train and enhance these magical talents which have manifested themselves in a ‘mental magic’ fashion. Eagle is very stubborn and possesses an extremely strong will, with these traits he is able to focus quite well even on more complicated spells and is able to make them quite powerful through his force of will. Of course since he is still in school there is quite a bit left for him to learn, and he fully intends to do that. Becoming a masterful Wizard is one of his life’s goals. To achieve this end Eagle plans to study hard and complete any task set out before him… even if that means something as easy as riding a chocobo or as difficult as obtaining a feather from a phoenix. Whatever the task he will succeed at it!
Sometimes in pursuit of his goals, Eagle forgets to take care of him self properly. At home his best friend Geo would always look after him, making sure he had eaten, slept, and arrived on time for his Father’s many diplomatic functions. But, here at Hogwarts he has had to look after him self… and as usual he sometimes lapses in this area. I’m sure the teachers and staff of Hogwarts will have been advised by his concerned Father to keep a close eye on him due to this failing.
Headcanon:
- Eagle loves muggle candy!! He doesn’t like the weird flavors of wizard candy and he can see no good reason for ‘chocolate frogs’ to actually move. That is just creepy! He likes his food to… not run away.
- Autozam, Eagle’s home country, is a hidden magical land where wizards try to integrate technology and magic together in the hopes to strengthen both. So Eagle finds it weird that tech isn’t used at Hogwarts.
- When Eagle first encountered the sorting hat it waffled between Ravenclaw and Slytherin... before finally deciding on Ravenclaw.
