Cliffs and Eggs

[Video - Action : For people on Route 30 near Cherrygrove City]

[ A smiling jovial face appears on the screen of the PokéGear. Sure he maybe halfway up a cliff and slowly sliding back down to the ground… which thankfully isn’t that far away… but he still sounds amused and maybe, just a touch confused, when he finally addresses the device. ]

An item to climb a normal looking cliff? It doesn’t look like you would need one… of course this place is deceptive.

Speaking of video games… I may have discovered what this main quest you keep mentioning is. Apparently there is a rumor that if all of the gyms in this world are defeated one can return home. I was told no one had been able to do that yet.

[Which really only makes the idea more appealing. A challenge to face!]

I don’t suppose I can do that while these two are still eggs though, so I will be waiting around here until they hatch.

[Carrera nods. “That would be better. Besides I have to watch those other eggs too… since Amane-chan only likes to scare things.” ]

Waiting tables? It’s lucky they had an opening then. It sounds like you really enjoy it.

You're supposed to talk to 'em, so they don't feel alone.

[Obviously.]

You talk to them? Even if they aren’t hatched they can still understand?

[Clueless. Technology is much easier to understand. ]

Uh huh. I dunno if they understand, though. Friendly voices are comforting or something.

[He's not much better, trust me. But he's also 10, this sort of logic makes perfect sense.]

That is easy enough.

[Chuckle!]

Is that all or is there something more they need to hatch?

I think that's all there is to it, really. Those eggs may look fragile, but they're pretty hardy things.

I was told talking to them might help?

But, it is good to know they will not break very easily. I have been trying to move them as little as possible just to prevent that from happening.

...I've no idea how much it does or does not help, but I tend to walk around with my eggs.

[[Truth be told, she never puts them down when she doesn't have to, evidence being the egg currently in her lap.]]

But the basics are that you keep them warm, and try your best to keep them safe. They're fairly tough, but it's best not to take chances.

Walk around with them… talk to them… even if they haven’t hatched yet they really sound like children.

[Is that a touch intimidating… ? ]

I haven’t had very much experience with children…

[Why yes, it is!
Fortunately instead of laughing at him his little Vulpix Carrera makes a soft noise supportive noise as if to say, “All you have to do is be nice to them. That will be easy for you!”]

Well luckily, as like children as Pokemon can seem, I find them to be fairly easier to manage. For the most part, anyway.

[[At the sound the Vulpix makes, she smiles.]]

I don't understand Pokemon language, but it seems you've plenty of support behind you as well, from the sounds of it.

They do seem to understand our language even if we can’t understand theirs. That does make them easier to reason with… when they wish to be reasonable.

[He also spares a moment to smile at Carrera. ]

Yes, she had been a great help already. Carrera knows more about this world than I do.

[Okay, the attempts to climb the cliff might be one of the most ridiculous things she's seen Eagle do. Strike that... it is the most ridiculous thing she's seen Eagle do]

.. Be careful alright? You wouldn't want to injure yourself.

[Then she perks up a bit]

You have two of those things too!?

[Injure myself…? He really never even considered the possibility. ]

The cliff really isn’t large enough to be much of a threat.

[So hey, don’t worry about me! ]

Those things… You mean the eggs? Yes, they seem to have been some sort of free give-away during that strange festival.
From the question, you also ended up with two Pokémon eggs, Caldina?

[Your voice is very distinctive. ]

[Well maybe he should!]

It doesn't have to be. [You could break a nail!....cough cough]

Yup, I sure enough did~! I'm guessing-- we shouldn't use them to make omelets..

[So distinctive that she doesn't question it when he uses her name]

I don’t think it would be a good idea to eat them… [What are you even thinking…? ]

You wouldn’t get any cute Pokémon if you ate them.
