A copy of a conversation had by Jody and I, he included the commentary in blue.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
reason # 473 why we are the awesomest:
note the use of literary pacing to set the tone of this conversation.
starting with obligatory stark ridiculous interjection:
4:29 PM Jody: holy godberry
then thought collection:
ok
then contextual setup:
so after you went on your business trip
chances are you got home and talked to a few people on the phone who you'd met in person, yes?
and being
a) polite and
b) a normal human being
i bet you said things like:
"it was nice to meet you in person"
or
"how was the rest of your weekend?"
or
quick check in and on-the-same-page comment from you:
Melody: I had such a good time
Jody: "was it a prodcuctive meeting for you?"
right?
Melody: right
then you set me up for the punchline:
but?
unnecessary but amusing value judgement:
Jody: but when you are a dumpy balding man who works for jody
apparantly the trendy thign to say is:
now this is my fav part...the back and forth repartee that leads up to the homerun:
Melody: uh oh
Jody: (word for word)
Melody: eek
and the payoff:
Jody: "did you have fun talking to me this past weekend?"
Melody: hahahahahhahaha
Jody: true.
Melody: shazaam!
Jody: what the HELL is wrong with my employees???????
:)
Melody: idk my friend
the moral of the story:
Jody: i'd be mad if i wasn't so damn entertained.
Melody: I know, lord
