Summary - morning after the night before...
You’s brain slowly shifted into consciousness as he awoke from what had been a very good sleep. For the first few moments the foreignness of his surroundings confused him, but then the memories of the night before and his current whereabouts flooded back into his mind.
He was in Gackt’s house. Gackt’s bed, even. Several years of friendship had finally evolved into something more and this was the morning after.
You suddenly felt very awkward. How do you deal with the morning after? Would Gackt even want to deal with it… or with him? They’d both drank a little more than they should have last night and You began to worry that it had been the fine wine Gackt had drunk that had been talking and not Gackt’s heart.
When You opened his eyes he was greeted with the sight of the man in question lying next to him, eyes closed and lips curled into a slight smile as he continued to sleep soundly. You looked at him - at the smooth skin, high cheekbones and strong jaw of his best friend/possible lover
You slowly and hesitantly reached out and touched Gackt’s cheek. He couldn’t help but trace the fine features of Gackt’s sleeping face but he tried to keep his touch as gentle as possible, as if anything heavier would damage something oh so precious. You felt like he shouldn’t be touching Gackt like this, as if touching the singer’s face was too intimate for him to have permission to do, despite the fact that the night before he’d touched every centimetre of Gackt’s skin and Gackt had loved and welcomed every second of it.
When Gackt’s eyelids slowly fluttered open, his usually sharp eyes heavy with sleep as they struggled to focus on You, You felt like a child that had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
“…morning…” Gackt grunted gently, his voice thick with sleep and the sounds of someone who didn’t want to be awake yet.
“Morning,” You replied hesitantly.
You waited for Gackt to turn away, to kick him out or to laugh off the situation that they found themselves in.
Instead, Gackt shuffled closer to him, placed his head on You’s shoulder and promptly fell back asleep.
You smiled. His heart started beating again and he wrapped his arms around Gackt before burying his face in Gackt’s thick hair and whispering softly, “sleep well, Gaku.”
