On Indie Photography...

This is straight from the Artist's comments of my most recent (as of 6/1/07) picture. I figured I'd make it a journal too... because I can. And it's more visible here.

I sometimes wonder to myself: does INDIE mean bad? Because this is honestly not a picture I would ever consider posting normally. But for some reason, I feel it has artistic value when the INDIE label is slapped on it. It's like saying "Hey guys, check this out. I made it wrong on purpose. Is that cool or what?"

But I am also a huge INDIE music nerd. And most of the time INDIE music is more creative and interesting than popular music. I have to question: is it the rules or the artists who make beauty? What is shit, and what is beautiful? Can shit be beautiful?

I wouldn't have made this if I didn't at least LIKE the style. I don't know how I honestly feel. I'm stuck between "idealistic rebel" and "corporate whore." Is there any other place to fall? If so, please tell me.

Anyway, this is for a contest at *indiephotographyclub (If you hadn't picked that up already). Tell me what you think. Then go vote for it if you like it.
