PSWED Days 3&4, and a sick day
On Saturday I found I had lost my voice due to, I thought, talking and drinking at the club the previous night. So my PSWED that night was just wandering the Mission in the Uncle Sam hat I'd just painted, playing Banjie. Two people asked me for songs, which was fun. I played some Bach in the BART station and made about $.50. Doc sang while I played, a Hayden cover we'd played with his iPad and my cello before, as we walked home.
Sunday I felt actually sick and realized I hadn't gotten any tanning in the previous week. That would explain why I was getting sick -- when I get sun (while I worked it was in a booth, nowadays I do it on my back porch) twice a week I do not get sick at all. I had to get some playing in so I went to Mission Comics to try out their back room. The acoustics were wicked echoey, and sound bad for vocals but fortunately of course I wasn't singing -- and Bach sounded great in there. Doc said I should play arena rock and of course I retorted "arena Bach!" I played a suite and a half and only a few strangers heard me, then it was time to go to my parents' house where we enjoyed chili and a Die Hard marathon.
In a way the last two days were half-assed PSWED performances. Last night I was on/off feverish-sick, and today I already felt a little better but have *no voice at all* so I took the day off (I will make it up August 1 perhaps). HOWEVER -- what's really, really exciting is that now I can't wait till I have my voice back so I can go at PSWED full bore again. I am truly excited for Thursday or Friday when I can sing again, and even tomorrow I will play serious amounts of Bach in a BART somewhere. The hard work was done last Thursday when I sat down in the BART station and began playing despite feeling scared shitless, everything else now is just fun, research, and tiny bits of moneymaking.
