[[12th Hour]] Reality Stares Back At Me

Dec 20, 2008 14:51

Those of you who work at Medical Island or have a better grasp of medicine than I do:

Say if someone were running a temperature of 102.3 degrees. What would be the best way to care for this someone?

Fallen:

I need your help, are you awake yet?

Cover them in blankets and put a cool towel on their forehead. I'll send a medic over immediately.

Oh good, then I am doing that correctly.

That

is not necessary I assure you.

With all due respect, Ms. Clé, the patient really should see a medic, particularly should the fever get any higher.

Are they, ah, experiencing any other symptoms?

Should it get any higher then I will happily take them to see a medic.

No. Just the fever and a stuffy nose.

I simply do not wish for strangers in my house at this moment.

Help.

Yes. 103.5 is dangerous. But it seems to go down a bit.

What's going on? What's wrong?

We should - what should we do?

...do you have any acetaminophen?

Do we? I am not sure. But! Mister Scales is going to help us get Mister East to Medical Island!

That's probably for the best. I think Justice is down there...you can probably ask for him to get in quicker. The few medics we have are probably swamped.

Are you feeling better yet?

In the absence of medics at the clinic, although Justice is, of course, in residence (he ain't going to be hanging around having his mind read by Pure!!!) I predict this advice or treatment for fever:

A lukewarm bath, and a course of paracetamol/tylenol and ibuprofen. Lots of fluids. Likely also anitbiotics if it appears to be an infection (if he had cold symptoms, it might have become pneumonia or tonsilitis among other things. These will be checked for an the appropriate drugs administered. If it's pneumonia he might get kept in.)

Aaaand that is all I can remember from the old days and the BF who got delirious with tonsilitis XD

Well here's to hoping it's not pneumonia. I'm hoping they do get to medical island though, because the more people who see Clé out of her mind the happier I'll be. Don't ask me why, I'm pretty damned bored.

Yeah frankly I'd give East some pills and instructions and leave him to Fallen. It's her I'd slap in a secure ward XD!!!

XD She'd be very pissed. And once it wore off she'd be "Get me out of here now so help me."
