Character Info
Series/Fandom: Vampire Knight
Character's Name: Yuuki Kuran (Yuuki Cross)
Character's Sex: Female
Character's Age: 17
Canon point: Midway through Chapter 57 (after Kaname returns Artemis to Yuuki and she decides to set out on her journey).
Abilities: Yuuki is a pureblooded vampire, and as such she has the ability to access a wide array of powers. First and foremost, she is immortal. Secondly, she heals quickly and can recover from any wound (even the severing of her head), sans anti-vampire weapons that hit her head or heart. However, she's only recently woken as a vampire, so her skills are underdeveloped. Some of her budding skills are:

○ Mind Control -- This is actually a lot like a Jedi Mind Trick - it's a skill that pureblooded vampires possess thanks to their blood. Basically, they have a large amount of sway over the actions and thoughts of other vampires, but Yuuki, much like Kaname, rarely uses this power. If she ever chose to do so, it would, of course, be limited to permission and planning.

○ Telekinesis -- When Yuuki is under great duress or emotional stress, she's been seen to shatter window panes and even cut the skin of those around her. While she doesn't have a terrible amount of control over this, she tries to stay calm in order to avoid it.

○ Clairvoyance -- Yuuki has a rare ability to see one's memories or past after touching them. Like all vampires, she can also see one's memories and inner thoughts by drinking their blood. (Note: if she is to take anyone's blood but Kaname's, which is highly unlikely, permission will be asked for blood clairvoyance. A permissions post will also be made for memories from touch.)

○ Artemis -- Artemis is an anti-vampire weapon that started out as a rod that Yuuki wielded while patroling the Night Class - the class of vampires - at Cross Academy. After she was awoken as a vampire, Artemis rejected her at first. However, it soon heeds her and transforms into a gigantic scythe that she wields with ease while fighting Rido, and later while fighting other purebloods.

Strengths: Thanks to the fact that she's a pureblooded vampire, Yuuki is strong and has an aura that commands respect from her peers (though she works hard to seem like a normal girl still). She can also recover from just about any wound, so it's nigh impossible to kill her. She has powers to protect herself, and none of the traditional weaknesses of storybook vampires (though the sun does make her weaker, especially the light of dawn). Kaname is a very good protector as well.
Weaknesses: Yuuki has been a vampire for not even a year, and as such she's very much like a child. She has trouble controlling her powers, and she has yet to be hardened by the world. While she can recover from many wounds, she has yet to go through the pain of receiving said wounds, and as such she's still very much hurt by those wounds. She craves the blood of only two people - Kaname Kuran and Zero Kiryuu - and yet she's still rather reluctant to bare her fangs and bite, so bloodlust is a large weakness for her.

Background: Wiki link + Plot Summary link
Appearance: Yuuki & Yuuki wielding Artemis

Personality: Yuuki is constantly described as a kind girl with a warm heart, and even after she returns to her life as a vampire, Kaname tells her that he doesn't mind that she has another person in her heart (Zero), because it wouldn't be Yuuki if she wasn't filled with love and compassion. As a vampire, she's the youngest pureblood so she has yet to be jaded by the toil of living for eternity, and as a human she was surrounded by people who cared for her. She's also rather cheerful. At one point Zero asks her how she can keep smiling, even after everything that's happened, and she answers that she smiles because she wants him (and others, likely) to smile as well.

As a result of her upbringing, and in spite of all that's happened to her, she possess a selfless and rather self-sacrificing trait. When Zero becomes a vampire, she "forces" him to take her blood - the "most forbidden act" - because she would rather shoulder the burden of him hating her instead of having him hate himself. Later on, she decides that it should be her duty to end the lives of purebloods who wish to die so that they don't have to sacrifice anyone or endure any more sadness. At two separate points, she also promises Zero and Kaname that she'll be the one to end their lives when the time comes. All of these choices hurt her, but she shoulders these burdens with hardened resolve.

Yuuki is described as a girl with an unwavering and sincere gaze. She's honest and rarely lies, unless it's to protect someone she holds dear to her. While she wields an anti-vampire weapon, she has yet to kill a vampire herself (though she did deal a blow that ended with Rido's death, I think it was Bloody Rose that finished the job there). She's very innocent, and great care is taken so that she remains that way as long as possible. In many ways she lives up to the meaning of her name, which is "tender princess." She's gentle and kind to everyone until they hurt those she loves. But her kindness, in some ways, is cruel, especially to the possessive people around her.

On top of it all, she's also very hard-working. She knows that nothing in life comes easily, and she gives herself completely to her goals. As a human, she took her duty as Cross Academy's Prefect/Disciplinary Committee member very seriously, to the point that she'd hardly get any sleep at night and thus she'd fall asleep during class. She was also outcast by almost everyone in her school because of her closeness to Zero and Kaname, but she kept persisting. One of Kaname's greatest fears is the Yuuki will someday sign up for a lost cause to the point of sacrificing herself to see the goal achieved, and from what is seen of Yuuki, that seems very likely. While she's determined not to die yet, she also believes completely in the things she commits herself to.

Of course, Yuuki isn't all warmth and sunlight. She does poorly in school, and her favorite class is physical education. She slacks off in her studies in favor of other things (like sleeping), and she only really commits herself to learning when it's about a topic that interests her. Sometimes she does things without fully thinking through the consequences, and she still has a long way to go in terms of being a vampire, especially a full-blooded one. She's often spoiled and sheltered by those around her (namely Kaname and the Chairman), and her pacifist ideology that she's picked up puts her at a disadvantage as far as understanding the state of the world and the psyche of vampires. Having only lived part of her life as a vampire, and part of it as a human, she has yet to fully understand both sides. She's very much like a child in both, and as a result she has to be protected at times, and there's a steep learning curve.

Yuuki also loves to eat. She can eat a lot of food, and certainly a lot of ice cream. She does wonder if a paopu is any good to eat, or if she should just share one with Kaname.

Strengths: Yuuki is honest, sincere, determined, and warm-hearted. She's kind and she cares very much about those that have wormed their way into her heart. She would do anything to make certain people don't have to experience sadness, and she believes that someday vampires and humans can live in peace and harmony. She's compassionate and will do what she can to eliminate suffering whenever she sees it. She's also very dutiful and hard-working, and when she sets her mind on a goal she does all she can to achieve it.

She will do anything she can for those who are important to her, even if it puts her life in danger.
Weaknesses: Yuuki is sheltered and innocent. She hasn't experienced much of the world--either world she's lived in, really--and so she can be rather naive. She believes in those she cares about, and she believes they can do no wrong, so it can get her into trouble. She's also completely willing to break whatever rules she has to in order to protect those she cares about. She's selfless and compassionate, so she's likely to give herself to a hopeless cause that will harm her, if not kill her.

She's also not all that bright, and the fact that she's loved by two very desirable men puts her at odds with her peers at times.

Samples

Action/Journal Sample: [When the feed clicks on, all that can be seen is the dark palate of the night sky. The sun's just set in Traverse Town, and Yuuki feels at home now.]

Will you hold it for me?

[The moogle makes a little "kupo" noise in response and the video bumps around as she hands it off to the flying creature. It takes a few minutes, but afterward a girl with long brown hair and large brown eyes is seen beneath the flickering light of a street lamp in Traverse Town. She's smiling, and her gaze is both reassuring and gentle.]

Hello. I'm sorry to wake some of you, but I was hoping to find someone.

[She hesitates for just a second. Would Kaname want her to say her name? He had left it up to her at the party, but she had no idea what to expect here. Still, she covers up her pause with a smile as she brushes away a few stray strands of hair from her face.]

My name is Yuuki, and I'm looking for someone who's very important to me. His name is Kaname, and it's important that I find him. And if anyone else from home is here, I'd like to see you.

[She won't dare hope that Zero is here, and she certainly won't voice as much, especially if Kaname is here.

She points off camera, and the moogle slowly takes the cue and does the same. There's a café there with an overhang over the front of it. It should provide enough shade to save her from the morning light, which is always painful, and she plans to wait for as long as she has to wait.]

I'll be waiting right over here, okay? I really hope to hear from some of you soon.

[The moogle turns the camera back to her, and she smiles and waves a farewell before the feed turns off.]
RP Sample: "I'll come back," she had promised him--them, really, as she'd said it to both Aidou and Kaname's shadow. She had known as soon as she had seen the wolf outside the door that it was an extension of Kaname - she would know Kaname's scent anywhere, even faintly - and she had known somehow that he would hear those words that she said, resolutely, to Aidou.

But she had barely escaped the mansion before the darkness had come. She had barely known what was happening when it took her, and she wondered, even after reawakening in Traverse Town, if Kaname had heard her cry out for him. Part of her hoped that he hadn't because she still wanted to keep her promise to him. No matter what happened, she wanted to keep her promise to return to his arms.

Still, she listened carefully to everything the moogles told her. For once she didn't rush off, and instead properly sat through the explanation. She even accepted the tour that the moogle offered to her, and she did her best to pay attention to everything it told her.

When she got back, who would be the first person to scold her? Aidou would definitely not let her get away without saying something to her, and she imagined that even Kaname would punish her in some way for this. At the same time she was excited to see new things here, although she did keep stopping to check for the manifestation of Kaname in some form to show up around her. The creatures that had attacked her had not seemed to different from that shadowy materialization.

Had another vampire controlled them? Was this all an illusion created by a pureblood? She didn't doubt that it was possible for one of them to do something like this, and if that was the case she knew that all she had to do was wait for Kaname to come for her. As much as she didn't want to trouble him, she knew that he would come for her if something was wrong. No sign of him was probably a good thing.

The moogle that had showed her around quietly cleared its throat as they came back around to where they had begun the tour. "Are you ready to check for your friends, kupo?"

Yuuki stared at him blankly for a moment before she looked down at her hand. She was still holding the oddly-shaped device, though she had pocketed the rest of items she had been given. "Ah," she trailed off for a moment, trying to think of what she would say. They had been hiding for so long in her world... What if things were just as bad here? What if announcing her presence put her in danger?

If Kaname and Zero--no... If Kaname wasn't there, could she do this on her own? It was a question that took her only a few seconds to answer. By now it wasn't a matter of if she could or couldn't handle it. She was here, she had to take care of things. As a pureblooded vampire she had to learn to stand on her own two feet, in her own society and in this one.

Not long ago she had been so ready to follow through with her task. Now shouldn't be any different. It wouldn't--she wouldn't let it.

She pursed her lips and nodded. "I'm ready," she confirmed, and clicked on the feed.
