What colour is "Hiiro"?

I'm not a heavy gamer (cuz I absolutely SUCK at them), but I'm SO WEAK for Otome games. |D All the "amai serifu"~~~ (sweet words/lines) *dies*
But this urge to fangirl about this game to someone is kinda eating at me, so here I go!

Currently, I've been addicted to this Otome game called "Hiiro no Kakera" for the DS (*o*) <3

This game doesn't require you to role play and fight, which is good for me, cuz I button-smash and just die really fast ^^; It only requires you to press the "Next" button to advance the dialogues and to make occasional multiple-choice decisions which can lead to different plots/scenarios.

The plot (as I can understand): Your [original name Tamaki; you can change her name] parents left for overseas, and while they get settled in there, they left you with your grandmother in a countryside town. As soon as you arrive there, you wander off and encounter a strange "god" and is saved by the boy who was supposed to come pick you up from the bus stop. Upon arriving at your grandmother's house, she tells you that you are actually the next princess in line who protects the barriers around the village, which is starting to get disturbed [I think]. You also get told that there are 5 guardians that are supposed to help protect you. With their help, you're to restore the barrier/protection. [I think... I've also read somewhere that you're actually sealing a sword?]. But of course, it's not so easy. There is an enemy also after the same force that you're trying to restore because it can end the world (in this case, the sword makes more sense...).

I will not lie. The plot can be extremely hard to understand if you can't read Kanji, cuz there are A LOT. Even figuring out which button does what took me a good 30 mins O_O;
But apart from "your" lines and "your" narration, all other characters are fully voiced, so if your hearing is better than your reading, you may stand a chance XD; Truthfully, I spend half my time going, "wtf did you just say?!" and "I know that was important to the story....but I have no idea why...." ^^;;

So for all I know, I could be COMPLETELY off on the plot, but you get the point, hopefully? XD;;; But so far, the story is really good! Full of angst, but I am SO HOOKED!

Of course, since this is an Otome game, there has to be "dating" portion ;D (that's what I'm after!) The 5 guardians are boys ranging from age 15 to 25 - you're 17. Depending on your decisions, you can get them to like you and get different endings/scenarios ^^

I originally started playing it cuz I wanted to hear Hirakawa Daisuke voice one of the characters. XD;;;;
He voices Oumi Suguru, the oldest guardian who has long hair, glasses, wears kimono and looks like a girl AHAHA.
In this one scene, "you" walk in on him after he gets changed into a yukata and "you" go, "what a beautiful lady....!" LOL. I was having trouble breathing for a while after that ^^;; I wish I can take screenshots cuz there's a nice visual along with it, but it's on my DS so I dunno how >_<

The point of this entry is: HIRAKAWA-SAN'S VOICE KILLS (ME). OMFG, I'm like a wibbling pile of fangirl goop whenever I hear his voice orz. I will call his voice 罪の声 from now on *nod nod*...*shot* K, point over, you can stop reading now XD;

Two other voice actors I know is Sugita Tomokazu as Onizaki Takuma (boy who saves you at the beginning), and Namikawa Daisuke as Yuuichi.

You also have this little fox-thingy that's supposed to protect you as well but...I've yet to figure out how exactly o_o You're able to name it and I named mine "HiroC" LOL. At first, I forgot that I named it that, and was surprised when I saw "HiroC" on my screen ^^;;;;

I should also mention you can get GAME OVER in this game! If you choose the wrong option during some choice scenes, you'll get killed [I think]. I finally finally understand what this "quick save/load" option is for! Make sure to save before every choice scene so if you die or meet the wrong guy, go back! >_< I managed to kill myself while I was playing at the office today, and saved it at a bad timing x_x

I'm also a very emotional player ^^;; If you watch me play, you'll probably be wondering why I'm having spazz attacks and hyperventilating every couple minutes >.> But it's all because it's such a good game!

Well, if this extremely wordy entry and my spazzing doesn't convince you, how about the opening trailor?

(oh look, the comments section gives a MUCH better summary of the story lol)
I LOVE the song btw *-* So pretty~~

Well, this entry took more time than I thought, but now I'm off to play some more~ I shall keep updating this entry whenever I wanna fangirl about it more ^^

EDIT 2011-03-06: SPOILER ALERT.
I'm at the part where Suguru betrays you, but still seems to protect you at times. He says he wants the 5 protective articles so that he can end this endless cycle of sacrifices to seal the sword. Everyone also seems to think that his reason for wanting to do it is also because his mother died when he was young and he also wanted to bring her back to life.

BUT, I wanna make a prediction here: judging from this being an Otome game, and the fact that "you" are going to be sacrificed in the sealing (or have to do the sacrificing, I'm not sure - it's not good either way), he probably wants to end this cycle cuz he loves "you" and don't want you to suffer! =O Let's see if I'm right about this 8D

Random line that I find funny:
芦屋:(at Suguru) ・・・・・・君、なんか、性格変わってない?まぁ、別にいいけどね
Why yes, Suguru is freaking glowing purple!! O.O

I'm not the best at explaining about these things, but maybe this will convince you to try the game out as well? ^^
God, if only I had a Japanese PS2, I'd totally play the others in this series T_T
