Last weekend parents + brother + (sister + bf) were over.
My brother drives a hybrid these days, but at least he admits it doesn't do much for the environment. The tax reduction is worthwhile though.
He also made me see the point of smartphones. At some points he managed to call in the help of Wikipedia during discussions.. he still lost many an argument, mostly because he could only find articles that disputed his point.
Much to the glee and entertainment of me and my dad of course.
Looking around I do see a significant number of people in my social circle who have extended the leash of the net further into their social life. Some are on MSN all the time, I seriously do mean all the time. Nowadays I hear the hallmark msn sounds when I'm cycling... this is not a delusion but somebody nearby with their phone logged into msn.
I find pictures of me online only minutes after they were taken. I will not link to them from here as they aren't very flattering, anybody who really wants to find them will do so :-)
Another source of interruption for the "real world". What scares me a bit is that I seem to be going the wrong way.
I'm still setting my phone to silent mode when going out for dinner, a drink, movie or some other social gathering. I've actually stopped protesting loudly when people interrupt their social time for phonetime.
Perhaps I should pick that up again.
