Adventures at the DMV

The thought of owning the car I paid for sounded like a good idea, so I made a trip to the DMV today to get a drivers license and register and title the vehicle in my name. I've been the to DMV before, a couple of weeks ago, to get a permit for my car while I was waiting on the title from the party I bought it from. It's a pretty organized place. You go in, tell them what you need, and they give you a number based on what that is. Different windows specialize in different needs and when they call your number they already know what you will ask for, so things go fairly smoothly. It's a busy place, so it's still a bit of the wait, but its organized and not that bad. Unless you have more than one thing you need.

Today I needed to get a drivers license and transfer the title. I was in over my head. When I get there, I explained to the lady at the front desk what two things I needed, and she gave me a ticket to get a license. It seemed all fine and good;I sat down and waited and waited. Eventually I was called. A very nice lady set me up with a new drivers license, but said she couldn't register my vehicle and that I had to get in anther line. WTF, mate. Regardless, I go back to the front desk and get another ticket and waited out another length of forever. This time when I went to my window, the lady was confused. What I was asking for wasn't what the ticket was. But after grumbling to herself for a few seconds, she went ahead and titled my car anyway, which I appreciated. There was no way I was going to wait in line again.

I don't think I did a very good job describing how tragic this was, but I will now. It was tragic.
