Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews

Amazon: Drafted into working for the Order of Merciful Aid, mercenary Kate Daniels has more paranormal problems than she knows what to do with. And in Atlanta, where magic comes and goes like the tide, that’s saying a lot.

But when Kate’s werewolf friend Derek is discovered nearly dead, she must confront her greatest challenge yet.

Wow, that's probably the shortest summary I've ever read. Okay, so basicly this book is about an underground fight to the death using any and all means to win and receive the prize, the Wolf Diamond. It's a good book, better then the last one IMO. The banter between Kate and Curran was amusing and well written. I especially liked the part where he catches her complaining about him behind his back and it doesn't even enter into her mind to feel embarrassed. And Julie made a reappearance and was refereed to by Kate as; 'my kid' throughout the book, which I found sweet. Jim, Andrea, and Derek come back, as well, to make a pretty good book. I'd give it an A.
