Stuff I Discovered In 2010

Jan 18, 2011 19:27

Spring semester starts tomorrow for me and I'm nervous and kind of annoyed (new things are scary!), so to take my mind off of it, I'm making a post of awesome stuff I fell in love with over 2010. Which really means, because of my crappy memory, that this is the stuff I discovered in the last few months. I mean, remember all the way back to the beginning of 2010? No way. :P

1. Community

This is the best show ever. It's hilarious. It reminds me a bit of the crackiness of Arrested Development.

2. Florence & the Machine

She has such a pretty voice and her lyrics are freaky and awesome.

3. KT Tunstall's Tiger Suit

This cd! I love it, even if a lot of the time it doesn't sound like KT's usual stuff.

4. Jefferson Airplane

I blame this on Being Human. I heard their music first on the show and couldn't get it out of my head.

5. How to Train Your Dragon

D'awwwww. Why are animated things so adorable?

6. Being Human

I wouldn't say I love this show, it's a bit unnecessarily violent and depressing for me (not to mention waaayyy to short for the things it's trying to accomplish), but when it does comedy it does it right.

7. Sanctuary

I don't know why, but I love this show despite the... iffy quality. What can I say, Amanda Tapping makes everything awesome.

8. Stargate: Atlantis and Merlin

Another sort-of crappy sci-fi show, I don't know why I love them so, but I do. They're just so fun.

These two are smooshed together since I was already part of both online fandoms before I actually saw them on tv in 2010.
Merlin is... well, their costumes look a bit cheap and the special effects effects aren't the greatest, but there's something really fun about magic and mystical quests and pretty men.

9. Terry Pratchett

...and his Discworld books. The man is a god.

10. Deathly Hallows (Part 1) and Doctor Who Series 5

I'm smooshing these together because I only want to do 10 things and I'd already heard of both of them before 2010 so they're not exactly new, even if I hadn't actually seen them before. ...I'm hoping that makes sense.
Anyway, Harry Potter was a great movie (they always are) and I'm so excited for part 2. And Doctor Who series five had a great plot arc, I can't wait to see series six.

Also, I watched Inception (awesome), The Social Network (meh), and Despicable Me (d'awwww)  this past week.
