I have never been one to settle for being mediocer. It has never truly appealed to me. But I have to say this last semester I found myself really hating almost all my classes and not giving a damn about them. Which is bad right? Yeah some of that stuff is total bullshit. It's one of the reasons that I cound myself slowing drifing away with wanting to be involved in the department. I'm not sure if my opinion matters, and I know I havn't been there long enough to really know some of the bull shit, but this is my two cents. I mean, people want to do theatre as a living, but there just aren't that many jobs. So hey, be a teacher. But in what? Sure you can have acting teachers, but quick, make up some more bullshit stuff. I know! Voice and Diction! Because that can't just be beaten into some kid "BETTER DICTION DAMMIT", that's what Hackbarth or G would do, and we did it. Alright, that step is out of the way. I know! Teach actors how to sow! Oh wait, that's fucking pointless...damn...I know! I got it. This is it, the big wammy. Lets teach people to think their own way, and be unique, but when they have an interpretation of a play, lets tell them...here it is....THEY"RE WRONG! OOPA! Then they can read more books and we can really make ourselves seem smart. For there are a hundred and one ways to interpret a play, but only one is right..mine dammit. Here's a C, have a good holiday. I got two B's and two C's this semester. I got a B in acting. A B? Why? How does that happen? Oops, my 10 line scene with one word each wasn't up to par. I also got a C in stage craft. Guess I can't drill a fucking doohicky with another fucking doohicky into a piece of wood. Remember though, wood is not just wood, there are 30000 types of wood, and so help me God if you don't know every one, Jesus will cry...in other words. Kate, I love you, Merry Christmas.
