Marie dropped her duffel on the floor and collapsed on her bed. She was having fun at Xavier's, but it certainly wasn't Fandom. She was very glad that the Professor and Scott had agreed to let her come back to Fandom for graduation weekend at least.

And this would be Jamie once again making the loooooooong trek down the hallway before nervously knocking on the door. "Marie?"

"It's open," Marie said, taking a deep breath while she waited for him to enter.

Jamie poked his head in the room and gave Marie a smile trying to hide his nervousness.

"Hey."

"Hey," Marie replied, staring down at her feet and trying not to think about the last time they had actually been together.

Jamie kind of let the silence hang there for a few moments before shoving his hands into his pockets.

"So."

Another moment.

"No awkwardness between us, is there? Nope. Not at all."

Marie looked up and managed a half smile. "I really don't know what I'm supposed to say," she admitted. "It would be a lot easier if I could just dump a banana split on you."

"Or you could smack me around if you want?" Jamie suggested lightly. "It'd hurt more but there'd be less clean up."

Jamie let off a long sigh.

"This might be a little late, but I'm sorry for what I said," he said softly. "I'm not exactly sure what set me off there but... yeah."

"I'm sorry, too," Marie said. "I... yeah, I don't know why I listened to Miley. But I guess deep down I had a lot of insecurities."

"Yeah. I kind of had a similar conversation with Walter, I think," Jamie said in a looking-at-your-shoes kind of fashion. "But um... despite what happened? I still have the same feelings for you like I did before.

Marie swallowed. "I... " she faltered. "I still love you," she whispered.

"I love you too," Jamie said quietly but still looking at his shoes.

"But we're both going away," Marie said.

"For the summer," Jamie pointed it out. "I'll be back in August. I mean... I guess we can just see how it goes."

"I'll be back in July," Marie said. "And... yeah. Let's not make any promises now. Because neither of us has any idea what the summer will bring."

Jamie swallowed the lump in his throat a couple of times. "Yeah. Okay. We can do that."

"Too bad we won't be in the same New York," Marie said. "We could hang out."
