Introducing a new topic in my LJ - anime.
Remind me to add 'anime' to my blurb at the side there. xD And nope, my first post on anime won't be just about any anime... Consider this the epitome, the legend behind the anime industry: Neon Genesis Evangelion (NGE), originally released in the mid-90's that created a huge hoo-ha among anime fans. I won't be going into detail about its glorious (I'm not exaggerating!) history, do read about it
here if you're interested though.
Sorry... I'm kinda rushing against time as it's late now and I should be in bed because I plan to get up early to make some yummy Japanese custard pudding, a recipe I got from
zephyris87 (Thanks zephy!).
Okay, am getting off-topic there. *cough* Anyway.
Due to NGE's huge success, the production company decided to go ahead and remake the entire anime series into a set of four movies that are only released in the movie theaters. When they announced 'remake', that meant using all the sophisticated animation technology of today - turning it into a fine reproduction of Full Metal Panic!-like battle sequences complete with flawless graphics like those you see in Bleach/Naruto. This is a stark contrast from the original anime series that had a great story, great philosophy, great characters, great action EXCEPT great graphics to new generation viewers like us. Many new anime fans find the graphics a turn-off. (IMO what do they expect? It's a 1995 anime. -___-) Therefore, to reintroduce NGE to the newer anime audience (to restore it to its former glory), the powers that be released the first movie of the four (opened in Japanese cinemas last December, the DVD only released recently):
Evangelion: 1.0 - You are [Not] Alone
Yeah, the official poster doesn't look that attractive huh?
BUT. Believe me, this movie is WORTH WATCHING. I didn't use caps for no reason.
The DVD rips were just uploaded on Crunchyroll three days ago. I can't embed CR videos, so here are the links to the high definition videos:-
Evangelion: 1.0 - You are [Not] Alone (Part 1)Evangelion: 1.0 - You are [Not] Alone (Part 2 - Final)They're subbed, so get ready for an awesome movie! Length is around 1 hr 50 mins I think.
Just some insight in case you're wondering what this movie's about: It's basically the same as the original series, just that it's condensed into four movies. So this 1.0 movie covers the first 1/4 of the series. If you haven't watched the anime before, well... Let's just say it's emotional, philosophical, exciting and explosive.
It will get the wheels in your brain cranking in many different directions, trying to decipher the messages the story carries. While enjoying the awe-inspiring graphics.
Note: The 'not' in the movie title is bracketed for a reason. xD
Enjoy.
