So, those of you who read my last puppy post, know that I am a little trepidatious about visiting the Castro Pet Food Express. Last weekend, Z and I visited the Stonestown Pet Food Express. Turns out that this was much to our benefit. They loved our puppy, and doted on him the entire time we were there, and even were kind enough to inform us that we would get a 20% discount for our visit. This obviously was also to their benefit, since we decided to buy a whole lot of stuff, including a new crate, and spent nearly $200 even after the discount.
Needless to say, my baby met a nice lady that will heretofor be known as Auntie Margie (pronounced Mar-Gee). She loves him, and he loves her, and they now bond whenever we go in (we have been back twice since the weekend). She hooked us up with some Bully Sticks, which are way better than rawhide, though they are made from the penis tendon of the bull, and let me tell you, seeing these things whole can really give you envy. She also hooked us up with this toy:
I would like to be able to post the sound that it makes, because it's hilarious, but I don't know how to post an audio file, so if that is possible, and any of you know how to do it, and any of you want to hear it, then please comment. Thanks. Anyway, it's his new favorite.
She also hooked us up with some great new food. In light of the recent recall, we have been really concerned about the kind of food that we buy for him. The shelter gave us Science diet which is not a very high quality as pet food goes. We ended up buying something called Nature's Variety. It has a freeze dried raw food coating on the kibble, and the wet food is full of really healthy dog ingredients, and actually has no water added at all. It's all good stuff. It scored a 117 on this
rating scale.
The real hit of the day was this collar:
Yeah, he's a hottie. He loves his collar too. We put his revolution on earlier this week, and we took the collar off, so that it wouldn't rub off the medicine, and we kept sniffing at his collar all day. He really wanted it.
So it ended up being a very productive day, and in the end he got tired:
