Thor: the Dark World

So we went to see this today. It was amazing. I would have stayed put right there in my seat to watch it again just to see the parts I might have missed while paying closer attention to the obvious.

Thor is amazing, and that credit goes to Chris Hemsworth, but Tom Hiddleston as Loki owns my soul. His performances are provocative and gut-wrenching, and you just want to feel for Loki on levels you understand as absolutely human. He feels like he’s in the shadow of his big brother and that no one respects him in his own right, and damn it. I want him to win out just once, but by playing it straight.

The scenes between Loki and Thor tore my heart in two and shook my soul. I believe in my heart that Loki was being sincere, and it was by merely a fluke that he survived at all. And I would have loved to see the test that he gave his father because in my heart, I think the king failed. He was glad of Loki’s death and had done the final act to cast him out of his life and no longer claiming him as his son. So Loki has him hidden away somewhere. I believe he didn’t kill him.

But we’ll have to see with either another installment of Thor or The Avengers 2. And I have no patience to wait for either.

And yay! Thor, for keeping your promise to Jane. That was well worth sitting through the ending credits. Thank you! But I must admit that I don't feel the chemistry between Thor and Jane. Is that bad?
