Well, apparently the selling agent wanted all their ducks in a row, even for the back-up contract. They wanted to know when we would want to close, in case the primary contract fell through.
So, we bit the bullet and went for the "dream house". Beautiful floor plan, tile downstairs, wood upstairs, master down, three other beds upstairs, the main kids room is like two rooms in one with a HUGE play area... large kitchen.. huge ceilings in the living room, three french doors out to the backyard, graffiti on the side of the house... just georgous. AND THEY DON"T WANT TO FRIGGIN SELL IT! Everything going on with this house screams "I don't want to sell it".
First, the showing instructions said to call the listing agent when you got to the house. We got there last week and were told nobody is there to show the house. It would have to be 9am the next morning. We scheduled the appointment and show up the next day. AT FIRST NOBODY ANSWERED THE DOOR!! We waited in the car when finally a woman, who appears to have just woken up, answers the door asking if we are there to see the house, if we had spoken to her husband.... she didn't know we were coming....
Anyway, we wanted to just go ahead and bid on the house. We love the house, we love the price, the location, etc. etc. My dad just called us and was pissed at the listing agent and their stipulations surrounding this house. G_d knows how many more hoops there are, but they want a nonrefundable 1% deposit ($2k) and we have to get approval through THEIR mortgage company. We really don't want to deal with them any longer. I hope my dad told them when, where, and how to shove it.
My dad has had it up to his ears (and believe me, his ears are pretty high) with bulllllshheeeet! Not just with us, he has been trying to buy investment properties, and houses for his other clients, so, he's just done with this kind of crap. He told us we are only going to look at bank owned properties and no more of this pre-foreclosure/foreclosure crap. Luckily, 2 our of the 7 houses we sent him are bank owned. He will be over this afternoon to show them to us. We have loved one of the houses for a few weeks now, and the other house seems ok, but we haven't seen more than 4 pictures.
In other news, three weeks and counting without a response from our mortgage company. Go fug yourself real estate division which handles mortgages for $MEGACORP credit union.
