So I started the infamous Smolov squat routine about 6 weeks ago. It's a 13 week squat specialization program. I chose to work on an Olympic style back squat (high bar position, narrow stance, upright back position) on the grounds that mine is TERRIBLE. I took a conservative max of 315 and started on the cycle.
Well I finished the base cycle last week, rested and then re-tested my max for the next half of the program. I hit some pretty decent numbers
Oly squat
355 for a 40lb PR, wore a belt for this which I consider unfortunate but whatever. 40 lbs in 4 weeks I'll take it with or without a belt.
Power snatch
185 for a 10 lb PR. I've wanted this weight for a while now. On to 205
Power clean
240 5lb PR not bad
Split jerk
260 15lb PR, next immediate goal is 275 I guess and then on to a 300 lb overhead lift.
Deadlift
505 20 lbs off my best after 6 weeks of no deadlifting.
If these trends continue these next weeks will be very productive.
