launch musings
well my overexcited first attempt at alerting everyone that we have launched caught just 8c's attention. basically over the past year i may have grumbled about putting together a social networking engine and a website. i think it started out crying about not remembering how to code.
the site is mainly composed of two parts. poots.com lands on poots.com/card where we've basically made a completely new link sharing engine. on the idea that we are constantly sending, posting and messaging links between friends we've created a persistent link sharing engine with visual flair.
- submit an image+link describe and tag it. hit submit and we generate poots cards for that link. it appears in the new tab until it receives 3 votes at which point it becomes official poots card.
- superficially you can vote, comment and view the link of the cards, or save it for your personal collection but if you wanno get serious,
- flip the card where you can actually communally edit the tags of a card, do all those digg, delicious craps you like to do, report spam. furthermore
- peoples can submit cards as anonymous [not logged in] and toggle them as worksafe or not. you can then toggle your preferences of what you want to see.
we've also built a straight up social networking component to it. just like your myspace and facebooks you can build a profile but everything about it is sexier. the building interface, the profiles, the level of customization. you can have your blogs rss files photos hosted there. basically you can customize whatever level of online presence you want. its super in-depth
so that's the quick overview of what we made. now we're hoping our friends will try to use it, abuse it, tell us what they like and what they want so we can continue to improve it.
