Oooo, I had an epiphany yesterday!
I've been worrying over some plot/direction issues of Dangerous People that I needed/still kind of need to get figured out before I can start to write. So I was brushing my teeth, thinking about how to properly line up this really screwed up plot, and then it hit me and the toothbrush nearly fell out of my mouth.
Of course! I've been thinking inside the box! I don't need to 'line it up!' I can still show characters who are dead when the story starts! I can juxtapose important past and present scenes!
All I need to do is make it NON LINEAR!
And that one thought, that proverbial (I wish it were literal) light bulb above my head solved (nearly) all of my major problems. NON LINEAR, PEOPLE. It's going to be a bitch to write all of the conflicting time frames, but I think I can do it. It really is the only way.
It's so ingenious! I'm rather proud of myself. I'm so pleased. Dangerous People will become a reality! A non linear reality!
Now only a few more kinks to work out and we're good to go. God I hope this all works out. It's crazy, and brutal, and nearly all of my characters are in one way unstable, but it just feels RIGHT.
